Merchants and Ports - Beta Available
Hi Everyone!

The beta is now available for our Merchants and Ports update! The major features to look for are bigger maps, merchant ships, transport ships, independent islands, and a job priority system.

We've been hot-patching the beta a few times a week and fixing bugs as people report them. Thanks to everyone who has tested so far!

Here's how to try it:
  • Select Kingdoms and Castles in your library, right click it and hit properties.
  • In the menu that pops up click the "Betas" tab.
  • Select "next-version-preview-" in the dropdown menu. Your game will update to the latest beta of the new update.

If you have any bugs that are still there after saving and loading, send us the save game. Saves are in c:\users\yourname\appdata\locallow\lionshield, email to contact@lionshieldstudios.com

The only feedback I'd have a from a quick play, is the "Large/Islands" is indeed large... but it gives mostly a bunch of very small islands. Could it perhaps be changed to have just a large map, but with actual decent sized islands to use?

That or perhaps that might make more sense as an "archipelago" type. I mean, maybe that is in the intention!
Can you earn achievements while playing the beta branch and do existing saves work as well?

I didn't need a beta code, it asked for one but then just let me use it regardless
in the beta it lags quiet a bit and is there suppoed to be bigger islands and mods?

you go the beta box and change it to next build you dont need a code
The port does have a big issue. Say you want to store 100 food for trade. Well your villigers can still take the food away from the port. The resources aren't "locked". This is a big problem since the port acts as a stockpile and grainery.
The map size is still not that bigger. It saids large but the map isn't large at all.
I've noticed an issue where at an intersection of roads if I want to place a hovel the game decides which road it should face and snaps back to that road even if I try to rotate it.

I agree I wasn't hoping for something much larger too, I prefer games where the map is huge, and takes ages to find anyone , means I can spend hours and hours battling and building up
With Job Priority.

There should be more control over the micromangement of your people.

Being able to control the amount of workers chop trees or work at one building would be a nice addition imo.

Is the beta accessible for non-steam clients?
the boats seem to go throught the ground when they move around
hey just wanted to post a bug ive been having. villagers will get stuck walking back and forth on one or inbetween two sections of road and just keep walking back and forth untill i break the road and they can get away. also im not sure if fire rates are higher or maybe im just bad at the game but that has been happening a lot also.
