Hey everyone!

This is a gather thread for known issues with Before the Storm on Steam. I'll be using this to maintain a log of known and reproducible bugs or problems and will pass it on to our QA testing team.

CRASH ON LAUNCH
- If you are encountering a crash upon launching the game (and meet the minimum specified requirements), you are unlikely to receive support here in these forums. This is because such crashes are often related to your specific PC setup and need to be solved through our support team on a case-by-case basis.
- Please contact our support team here[support.eu.square-enix.com]:

BUGS, GLITCHES AND CRASH MID-GAME
- Please create a new thread for each unique issue you encounter. If someone else has already raised the issue, please post in their thread.
- Please always include the following information:
○ What are your system specifications (CPU, RAM, GPU, Windows OS version)
○ Where does the issue occur and what did you do immediately before the issue occurred?
○ Are you able to re-produce the issue consistently or was it a one off?

- I'm using a 4k screen but cannot select the resolution in the game.
Fix:
1) Select properties of Life is Strange: Before the Storm in Steam.
2) Select ‘Local Files’ and click on ‘Browse Local Files’.
3) Right-click the file "Life is Strange Before the Storm.exe" and select properties.
4) Select compatibility and check ‘Disable display scaling on high DPI settings’.
5) Click ‘Apply’.

- Controller Issues:
For some people one fix but not the other worked and vice versa

1. Go to the Steam application
2. Open Settings
3. Open the Controller panel
4. Click on General Controller Configuration
5. A Big Picture window will appear; enable Xbox Controller Support or your kind if PS4 or Generic pad

Alternate Controller Fix

1. Open the Steam application
2. Click on the controller icon on the top right corner
3. Once Big Picture starts, select the settings button on the top right corner
4. Open Controller Configuration
5. Enable Xbox Controller Support
6. Return to the main dashboard and boot the game from the Big Picture Library

Additional Fix Step:
1. Relaunch steam while running it as Admin.

This third step may work if our steam overlay is also not working and may also only work on Windows 10 (Other OS not yet tested).

Mouse Deadzone

Increase hardware DPI (where possible) while lowering Windows OS Sensitivity can significantly improve the issue.

Enabling hardware Mouse Acceleration at 200+ DPI can also mitigate the issue. We're aware that any type of acceleration can create an unpleasant experience for some people, but please try out these steps and let us know how you get on.

No Sound

Fix One:

Go to your Sound Windows Settings and look for your Headset. Turn DOWN the Sound Quality to 32000 HZ. Additionally, also try lowering the sound output to 24 or 16 bits.

Fix Two:

If you have a Logitech or Teufel headset unplugging it and using another sound device may work. This may apply to other branded headsets too

Crashing

Check that you are above the minimum specifications needed to run the game.

For older GPUs toggling the framerate limiter on may help (this is the similar to changing settings to "Hella High".

To toggle the framerate limiter on,

1. In the main or pause menu, select settings
2. Select Video Settings
3. Scroll to Frame Rate Limit option and select 60 FPS
4. Hit apply
