Tolerable period for being a noob?

I just tried versus mode for the first time two weeks ago and got votekicked even though I told them I was noob *sigh*. It wasn't a nice experience. I believe gradually noobs will improve along the way unless they are retarded or simply can't learn. Back to the main point, I'd like to know what you think is a tolerable period for noob in L4D2, or maybe other online PVP games. 1 match? A few matches? Absolutely not acceptable?

Dude... They are called Russians, And when i started to play everyone kicked me too, Some people still kick me... I hate the rude Russians on L4D2. That's why you should play with a friend.

that what we get when valve don't give us any matchmaking. I don't usually kick newbies when both teams are balance.

The problem is when the other team are full of high hour friends and our is mix with newbies.

Second carrying a newbies feels like babysitting a five year old. If you don't constantly tell them what to do then they will hurt both themselves and you.

Third half the newbie jump into versus with only the knowledge of how to use the items and pick up gun. They don't know when to use item, how to use item effectively, why you use item, what you should do after you use item, or where to use item.

legit reasoning. So basically it's a team balencing problem, if the teams are not balences then true, noobs are annoying. And really? Even a player who knows how to survive expert campaign may not be able to use items effectively in versus match?

Yeah, i know bro. One time I got kicked from my own server. This big guy on a mic just had to say ''Let's kick this guy..'' and I was gone. Best bet is to play with friends or siblings. Otherwise, you'll run into people like that. Just practice on Single Player for a little while longer. I'm sorry that happened to you, people are just like that these days. -_-

Personally, I play for fun and don't really care if we win or lose; Therefore, I don't mind nOObS.

That said, apparently there is a HUGE base of players with such fragile egos who MUST win at all costs -- While frequently using slurs that even a dedicated racist/not a fan of gays would cringe at.

It's a representation of our society: Myopically 'master' something, make fun of those who haven't -- get an ego boost.

Yet, these very same people are the ones that will let you down in REAL war and... a zombie apocalyse.

Yeah i kick m also. I play for fun, but it's no fun when your got a newbie teammate screwing up the game.

Usually i consider people with more than 100 hours no longer noobs, but it depends on the player. If someone played the first l4d a lot then a few hours in l4d2 don't make him a noob obviously.

@Austin - thanks man. Unfortunately there is no parctice mode for L4D2 versus in single player; I know I can use console commands but that's just too troublesome for me. I would definitely practice frist before going into a real match, just like what I did in TF2.

@FINI - I've got to admit that I'm one of those who play to win, so it hurts me a lot when people don't let me have the chance to practice. I'd like to win as well, it's just I'm new to this game, that's all.

@Trevelyan - What I'd like to point out is that I want to have a chance to practice as a noob so that I won't be dragging veterans down and also have fun myself. If players always kick noobs how do they practice? There's no offline practice for versus mode. Correct me if I'm wrong

You should find games with players of the same skill level. Best thing to do is to add some people to your friend list if you are new that you can play regularly with. This way you also won't get kicked if they are on your team.

Fair enough, but sadly there's no way of telling that beforehand. Before I find someone I think it would be a painful trial and error process.......

There is a way. If you join a new lobby you can click on the players and see how many hours they played. If all the teammates of you have a lot of hours there will be a high chance that they kick you.

That don't really fit for most of the community. Let me edit that for you. Personally, I play for my own enjoyment. I don't really care if I cause my team to lose since I pay for the game. I shouldn't get kick for my unwillingness to spend time to learn some basic game mechanics on a 2 year old game. Everyone was a newbie at some points so I deserves to be carried by three other strangers so, I can screw up their game and wasting 1.5 hours of their life.

People that kick me to win a game are just try hard or no life. Since, when people try hard on something that he/she really enjoy shows no sign of dedication and will not what so ever translate to real life or work.

You are most likely be the lee roy jenkins of the war that goes into a complicated situation without an attack plan or fall back plan. AKA terrible commander that get followers killed.
