It seems like few people actually know how to properly use this grenade like weapon. It's mostly effective when wanting to quickly distract a horde from attacking a downed teammate but i would rather have this one removed completely since I find myself never picking it up in favor of pipe bombs and molotovs that can actually kill the infected.
Did your teammate get downed when you were just outside of the saferoom or in a spot where you're bound to get attacked when attempting to get him up? Just put him or her over your shoulder and put them down at a less dangerous spot. While the person is getting carried or pulled, he or she can shoot with one or two pistols like they normally would when they're down and also provide cover fire for the person rescuing them.
This will only work if a survivor is not getting attacked while being down and the rescuer will also get his speed cut in half.
Imagine getting saved by a person in a military helicopter. When you and your teammates make it into the rescue vehicle, you're able to grab one of the turrets and fire at the infected and tank as they desperately try to take you down. It would be extremely satisfying and an even more rewarding way to end a campaign.
For example, I wouldn't want the Charger removed, he plays a pretty essentail part of an attack, forcing clumped up groups to seperate. and giving the other SI chances to attack. Between the Charger and Spitter, camping is greatly reduced.
I actually think the Bile Jars are one of the best items, due to its versatility. It can distract the horde the longest(great for the running events) and can slow down a tank(though I usually don't like risking tank+horde myself). A pipe bomb is good for a finite horde sure, but one good bile can give you basically a free run through most events if your speedy enough. And since it has the draw back of being neutralized when someone is boomed, I see it as a failry balanced weapon.
Bad jokes aside, I'd love to see L4D3 have a much more involved story with cutscenes. Similar to what was done in or BF3 or HL2 (Not the actual storyline, but the style in which it was told).
