Hi guys, since the free weekend and the influx of new players, i have kept an eye on daily peak players. It reads today 9900 ish two weeks it was18000 ish people are not coming back! Why? I wanted to find out so i set up a new account an called myself Spystalker a brand new player.

What i found was feelings of hostility , dislike , ridicule , hate towards me for being new. People had no idea how i played but kicked me without reason even in the lobby. I couldn't believe some of the threads on here and the newbies whinning about differant problems, until i tasted if for myself. Are we really this cruel. Yep we are.

Day 1: A special mention goes out to Mr rotted gash flaps, well Mr flaps shame on you for joining our newbie game. the abuse was instant and of a sexual nature aimed toward us weedy, girly, of lesser endowedment than the mighty Mr flaps. it was truly clear that we the unwashed on bended knee should worship the pinical of elegance the one the only mighty Mr flaps. In all honesty in the 40 years I've been on gods earth i have never been subjected to such an onslaught as the one dished out by this vile individual. A one off maybe in this case yes but generally no, although no-one ever measured that bad again you lot need to look in the mirror me included because im no angel its so easy to get frustrated.

Its not cruelty its how this community works and has always worked. If you go through those same threads you can see all the methods people can use to better themself before getting ♥♥♥♥ all over in normal pub games. If someone is able to just jump into versus without playing alot of campaign and all the other ♥♥♥♥ then good for them. If they set their profile to private and can truly play no one will care or think anything of them.

SInce both these games have come out Im sure theres been far more that have quit due to various aspects of the community. What we have now is the group that stuck it out and bettered ourselves over the years so we really dont care about all these crybabies just getting the game that want the community to be "noob friendly".

But the point i want to make especially to people like you is what happens when all the people leave and the game drys up, all those hours you and I have invested here will be lost. What i am thinking is for us to be a more open community , user friendly that attracts more players which is better for the life of the game. Don't think that i do understand one day it will die but for now lets try at least to make it last longer. The game has lost 9000 players in two weeks i don't know why but a least i am trying to understand why and hopefully making a difference.

The game isnt dieing atleast not from this community being as it always has been. Those peak numbers you see now is the average that its been for years. It's always hovered around 10k for the daily peak only going higher when they started the five dollar sales and the freekends. The vets really havent gone anywhere just discouraged noobs going back to CoD.

If anything valve is doing more damage to the game with giving us horrid half assed updates like the workshop. Valve updates have been a running joke since cs 1.3 but that was the most halfassed thing I have ever seen. We used to get blog and mutation updates monthly now that has almost entirely ceased for nearly half a year and then they give us the ability to add mods they approve while destroying the ability to play the game for hundreds if not thousands of people and most of it still isnt fixed.

I get your point and what youre trying to convey but the community at its core is how its been for the last few years and is far from dieing.

On pubs for campaign they seem friendly enough, it all really depends on communication.

64 I have alot of newbie friends with 100 200 hours ther are learning fast these people are gamers just not experianced here yet. but looking at what they have to offer! new tactics new teams more players

Ant, and indeed anyone else reading this. PLEASE DON'T LET THESE MORONS DESTROY YOUR ENJOYMENT OF A GOOD GAME (once you get the hang of it) there is a major problem with the way the internet works, especially with online gaming. These games are FULL of morons like the person you have named. HERE is how you deal with it:

1. open the game (L4D2)

2. SHIFT & TAB

3. Where it says FRIENDS, click on the VIEW PLAYERS tab

4. A list of players will appear if in a game with other players, or if you click on RECENT GAMES tab it will show you players you recently played with.

5. Click on the player you have taken a disliking to due to behaviour/ griefing/ language/ cheating etc then hit PROFILE. (clicking on the PLAYER tab on this page will arrange the names by alphabetical order, helping you find the person)

6. This takes you to THEIR PROFILE PAGE, on the right hand side of their profile page is a pane called ACTIONS, at the bottom of this are the options to REPORT the player or BLOCK .

Problem solved, you will never meet this individual again. i reccomend that you report them 1st before you block them, because you can't report a blocked person, enough reports and they will be investigated. Out of interest i have only one person on my block list, his name is 'Rotted Gash Flaps' :o)

I get discouraged from playing because there are hardly any Campaign games being played. It always feels like barely anyone is playing. Only time I can comfortably find a server is when I join a Group's Versus server.
