I don't care about if joe blow payed $20 (heck i payed for the game) or more for the game, good luck on ppl getting games for free others pay for, my concern is the first thing i mention though.
No, a Tonne of veterans left TF2 when it became F2P and players alike.
It wouldn't have died, it was growing at the time and it has growen to the point it has diminished quality due to the F2P model.
Also as i said earlier and others have said making F2P just brings in a lvl of player you would rather not play with, mostly trolls or ppl who can cheat without any side effects because all they have to do is make a new "free" account.
What, those silly excuses for campaigns? They watered down a crap ton of stuff for Left 4 Dead 2 when they ported the original campaigns over, messed up the original survivors' hand placement, and overall made them a quantifiably worse experience from the original. Call me a purist, but the original Left 4 Dead is the better game of the two, and entirely worth the $20 it usually is.
You are correct, l4d1 was balanced properly in versus mode for "both teams" as opposed to part 2 where the survivors are OP with melee weapons, medkits galore also the maps in l4d2 are there to make it easier for the survivors.
I recall valve saying they capped the ceiling limits due to optimisations for framerates etc but we all know it was because they wanted ot nerf the hunter but could only do so by using an underhanded method so they nerfed the ceilings.
The original scoring system and dmg implementation in l4d1 for vs was great also, as you say for the price it is worth every penny.
