Versus left out? (New l4d2 workshop)

Now I know that add-ons from the workshop can give an unfair advantage during versus, but does it have to cancel out things that are just for looks? Like skins, sounds, and other stuff? I subscribed to this amazing add-on that changes the skyboxes to look a thousand times better too bad I can't see them when I play versus. I know I could just go play campaign and single player, but that can get boring after a while. I'm not trying to say that the workshop is bad or anything I just wanted to state my opinion. How does everyone else feel about this?

Official dedicated servers don't let you use skins/addons
If you play on a local or best available it should be able to use skins

I tried a lot of games and all of them supported add-ons. Even the official servers. That was after the workshop update. But if this isn't the case then i wish they would enable add-ons on all official servers. People just want to have nice skins, not abuse the game.
