I just copied a new left4dead2.exe in this folder and the game was back to normal.
Hello everyone. Sorry for taking so long to answer. I analysed carefully the problem and indeed it was the antivirus. I´m using the AVG 2013 free edition and for some reason it detects the "left 4 dead 2.exe" as a trojan.
I added this particular file to the exceptions and so far the problem has not happened again.
I got the .exe file from an old backup, and if you don´t have one, I believe you´ll have to download the game again =(
