On-topic: The L4D2 joystick function usually works best with an Xbox 360 gamepad. Try getting one of those or using a wired usb xbox controller. It will work, but there is no joystick smoothing like consoles have.
I have a 2nd PC hooked up to my big screen in the living room
I usually only play joypad games in the living room.
I have a Logitech wireless F710 it works fine and figured I would give it a try
I tried it for about 3 hours it's just all over the place with the aiming I have no idea how console players can stand playing FPS games on console.
Some 3rd person games are enjoyable with target lock . Max Payne 3 works well with auto targeting and TR works well also with soft and guard auto targeting .
If anything it shows the need for a better joypad , when the hell is steam going to release their joypad with trackball ?
Yeah, where's that trackball controller?
I've been strating to play with thumb trackball and recording some clips last week. Those things are awesome really. I never had doubts they'd be worlds better than analog sticks, but in the very last time I played I started believing they can be as good as mice once you're used to them.
Here a thread I made about it:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2852175
(check the last two clips in the OP)
I dont think so. If you are choosing to use an inferior control method why should you have the advantage of auto aiming.
Always makes me lauugh when FPS console players think they are great - aim for yourself,ll that is the answer.
Ridiculous suggestion that we should allow aiming help for some and not for others.
Also - actually lolled. Play properly.
Steam has applied for a patent of a PC controller that is related to their work on a possible Game software oriented PC codenamed SteamBox..
If uyjou Google 'Steam Box Joypad " you can pull up a few images of the mechanical drawing of the controller .
There's a controller on Kickstarter also that uses a tackball as the second control.|
I made one for myself from spare parts I had. I used a iogear keyboard and an old Thrustmaster controller and made a Frankenstein joypad with track ball and mouse button hybrid.. I worked ok but was clumsy because I had to hack so much of the plastic to get the parts to fit together , that it was uncomfortable to use for gaming.
