There isn't a match making system so people with completely different skill levels are matched together, which in a team heavy game like this isn't ideal.
I agree with flying though, co-op is probably a better place to go for now the people normal campaign are typically pretty chill form what I've seen, I wouldn't touch VS until you're fairly competent at playing survivors.
Carrying teams, making friends without trying to hard not playing OP is what i do all day on L4D, it's much more better and actually feeling like an apocalypse would be if you see what i'm saying. Those trash talking are more considered as a higher wag for the winners, just remember playing with new peeps teaches you new things. Even pro's learn.
A. L4d2 is entirely the wrong game to get the "apocalypse feel" it's a arcadey shooter, it does not have that feel beyond the theme.
B. I learn stuff from people, but not from the people that are worthy of being kicked. The people I learn from are other experienced people. Vets do learn stuff from time to time, there's a lot of really obscure things you can learn even late in the game, but it's typically not from the person running the wrong way through the map.
C. Don't talk for the community as a whole, ever. You can hypothesize why people take actions but don't just say that everyone doesn't want to play confogl, you have no basis to say such >_>
D. Please organize your thoughts better, there is a lot of sentences in there that just don't make any sense or serve no purpose.
Not Apocalypse? You mean it's another CoD game? I never thought someone could say such thing from a specified genre, makes me wonder if you ever played L4D1. Doesn't need to be scary horror, the surviving matters are there you don't feel them because L4D2 killed it's theme from outside. Fast paced action doesn't mean surviving is non existent.
Talking about community as whole isn't a mistake, if you know who you are then you don't need to feel involved into it. Simple as that.
Confogl is just a typical sourcemod config people believe to balance the game. It doesn't do anything at all. L4D2 requires less uncontrolled OPness from his community and more actual skills, all it takes is less people rushing and more people having fun with understanding.
Simple plugin with less weapons and ammo piles would make L4D players a lot more competent than now. Mainly because the game "gives" too many chances to make back at each other. Confogl pushes players to rush even more and doesn't support ANY of these, explaining why it's no different from normal Versus.
