Try turning off multicore rendering. It seems to work better running on a single core cpu.

No, it just disables any programs running in the background on your pc that would disrupt or conflict with the game while you're playing. The game will be running on one core devoted to the game. just click that option while ingame and you're done.

Disabling multicore rendering doesnt devote a core to the game and certainy doesnt disable any background programs. The only way you could devote a core to the game is by manually setting the affinity for all your processes.

Does the crash happen when trying to load the next map? If so try deleteing clientregistry.blob and appupdatestatus.blob from the main steam directory and then restarting steam.

If your computer crashes that much you may need to give it a safety helmet! (Sorry, had too.)
