Game crashes upon getting a weapon

so i am playing the game as i do usually and when i pick up secondarys it sometimes goes fine but 50% of the time it crashes when i do. is there a way to fix it? (i mean if i take the starting area's secondary it never crashes) and if i go the whole campaign never picking up any secondary it works fine. but i still, sometimes feel the need to have melee and stuff.)

well i did some google search and found this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2613825 and im still not sure how to solve it but i think there is a solution at the bottom of this post and that it says it crashes from to much entities in the map.

from what i am seeing so far, i guess you just have to avoid picking really any secondary and stick with only the first weapon slot, as well the starting area secondarys work fine, but the only thing that still works for me is the Crowbar(i am thinking because its usually in areas with little amounts of zombies) .

also if your gonna pick up a secondary (any) you better check around the place and if you only see 1 or two zombies (best if you did it after a incoming wave) if there is little to none then its safe to pick it up (keep note zombies do spawn so do it in a place like the starting area and stuff.)

The game crashes to desktop (with no error text ever appearing) after I pick up a main weapon. Just pressing the button to pick up a rifle freezes the game, then black, then desktop. Going to guess a mod is causing it?? I don't know. It worked perfectly fine up until I got a few mods

what i found was that it was modded weapons (only modded melee) made me crash, rifles with different skins works for me, maybe its a certain mod your using.

sometimes its modded pistols but it works when i pick up melee that dosent have a new skin
