Defibrillators can't bring you back to life...
One thing that has always bugged me is the use of defibrillators to bring back the dead when this is impossible in real life. When someone is dead, they have a heart rhythm that is asystole which is the absence of rhythm, and thus defibrillation won't help. Defibrillation is also never done on a flatline because shocks to asystole can inhibit the recovery of natural pacemakers in the heart and completely eliminate any chance of recovery. A defibrillator is used when a patient has either ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation.

Valve, this makes no sense.

whats real, about this game anyway? Do you say HI to undeads? The only realistic things are movement, shooting, sound, those kind of stuff. So, dont apply logic, to something that is not real. Its playable.

The defibs should never have been introduced, it rewards bad play.

Out of everything, this annoys me the most.

Its the the zombies that bug me, they are so unrealistic.

Pretty much everything is unrealistic. The CI have incredibly sensitive hearing... but why? How would they evolve that way? Do they run around like crazy during every storm, earthquake, whenever a tree falls, when they hear animals, etc? How in the world is there even electricity still?
considering the number of games I seen where peoples healed wound from eating food laying around the place ...

It's just a game.

This assumes that every player that ever dies, on any difficulty in-game, realism or otherwise, is a bad player, because of the fact they died, whether by self-error or by the fault of in-sufficient teammates/ bot AI, or well timed spawns and attacks of SI.

haha wow way to twist it, it is what it is - it rewards bad play whilst the team who killed the survivor get a kick in the teeth for their efforts.

Now the question you should be asking is how EXACTLY do your characters resurrect themselves after they get killed, mauled by zombies, and then somehow teleport their dead bodies inside of a locked chamber that you free them from?

Are the survivors somehow death liches who can ressurect themselves?
Do they have magical powers that let bots teleport to you when they get stuck somewhere!?
Are they really just evil magicians who created the apocalypse so they'd have a excuse to genocide a entire city of 2,000 infected including the crying witches, the burning tanks who got shot until they burned to death!?

I can see where I might have gone wrong assuming that you would be one of the more infamous members of the L4D2 community. In that instance, I apologize. However, there is no twisting that the defibrilator was introduced to revive dead teammates.

I heard from somewhere (I dont remember where) that the idea was that the survivor was so wounded they crawled away to a safe location, where they partially healed, but realized they accidentally locked themselves in. The survivors being magicians sounds more plausible at that point.

yeah that sems realistic to me, knowing that they are wounded but still have 1 or 2 bandages left, so they are incapped and crawl to a room, and they "heal" themselves, but then realizing that they locked themselves in, & that's when they call out & you save tnem.
RogueJedi86 May 18, 2014 @ 10:31am
Yeah, the commentary likened it to how survivors are found locked away in a lot of zombie movies.
