Linux Version Everything Is Black

So I am trying the linux version of the game and all the models and everything is squarey and black. The game works alright on Windows and I figured on Linux it would work a bit better.

Basically every model in game is black, the smoke comes off as a bunch of sqaures, I have sat here messing with the settings and come to nothing working.

Intel HD 1000
i3 intel 2.5ghz
4gb ram

Now again it worked fine on windows, just wanted the performance increase valve bragged about.

S3 texture compression. Go look it up.

By any chance could you reveal a little more then hardly nothing? I know its used in openGL. I don't know if your trying to tell me that I need to enable it, or its already enabled and its my problem or what. But that has to be one of the most utterly useless replies ever.

your graphics card is way way way too old. works on ubtunu/os luna/ fedora/ and steamos with intel hd 3000+ and I should know ive tried all those distros before settling on a dual boot of steamos and elementary os luna.

Yet it works perfectly fine on Windows?

Being old shouldn't have anything to do with it considering my intel gma 965 can "play" the game without the graphical glitch.

Try

force_s3tc_enable=true %command%

for "set launch options." You may need to install some package first. Search for force_s3tc_enable=true to find out more.
