If you are having problems with addons, PLEASE READ:
I have discovered something interesting about this problem, it came to my mind after realizing L4D2 would allow me to keep a new mod only after erasing one I had...

So I checked my workshop folder, just to see how many files I have, and it says I have EXACTLY 100 files in that folder, which would be 50 mods, since there's one picture for each mod.

I had another friend check this to verify, and he has the same thing.

Go to Steam > SteamApps > Common > Left 4 Dead 2 > Left4Dead2 > Addons, then right click on your workshop folder, bring up properties, then look for a part in the list called "Contains:", it should say you have exactly 100, unless of course, you use less than 50 mods.

This tells me the problem is not the servers, it's not even the workshop itself, there is some sort of cap on the number of mods the system will allow now. Whether this cap is intentional or unintentional, is yet to be seen.

Just thought this would be good to share.

Sounds interesting, I haven't had this problem yet, just had problems with it redownloading my stuff needlessly. But this is very nice to know.

I'm just keeping the mods I view as essential for fun in l4d2, but thanks for the info, at least i can deal with this problem for the time being. :spirallove:

I have the same issue. No more than 50 mods allowed. Completely ridiculous.
:eagle: Easy Fix: :eagle:

Everyone, just go to http://www.l4dmaps.com/ and re-download all your maps/campaigns from there (most likely, no one is using 50+ gameplay mods at a time).
Use your current "Subscribed Items" list for reference, then unsubscribe to any you've re-downloaded.

It took me less than 10 minutes to go from 150+ Workshop mods to 20.

Oh! And be sure to rate/fav any Workshop mods you unsubscribe to in the process!

I trimmed mine and I'm still at around 90.
For the mods only on the Workshop (or if you still have too many):
:evilskull: go into your workshop folder
(...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop)
:evilskull: Move some .VPKs into your addons folder
(...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons)
:evilskull: unsubscribe to them on the Workshop.

You can tell is which, by matching up the .VPK with the .JPG in the workshop folder.

It'd work really well if the VPK's names were actual names and not just numbers. As it is, can't tell jack from squat on which is which.

But yeah, I'm replacing all workshop files I can find on l4dmaps for the site's versions.

Yeah, that part can be a pain. I've found that the easiest way to sort through the workshop folder is to set it to "Sort By Name" (the VPKs and their JPGs have the same number/name) and click the "Show Preview Pane" in Windows Explorer. Then you can just use your up & down arrows to go through it.
