I am ABOUT to buy L4D1, but...

I heard that if you buy L4D2, you get all the maps for L4D1 in it, is this true? No buying a DLC to do that?

Yep, don't buy the first one. The second one has had virtually all of the first game's content (including the campaigns and characters) ported into it. Plus the first one has virtually no active multiplayer community. You won't really gain anything except the ability to earn different Steam achievements.

all the content from l4d1 is in l4d2 so no need for it really unless you want to original game setup with no cooldown on mouse2 and no melee weps, also no jokey, spitter and charger special infected. the BIGGEST thing lost from l4d1 is The Last Stand survival map which is not included in l4d2 but is a mod (http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=8087) so you just gotta download it, plus the mod community is awesome for l4d2... just my opinion

IT'S A TRAP! Buy Left 4 Dead, it's worth it! Heck, buy both so you can actually tell the difference between the two.

Left 4 Dead 2 does not equate to Left 4 Dead, even though some version of the original campaigns has been ported. (Please note those ports are damned lazy, too.) Left 4 Dead has more overall zombie apocalypse atmosphere and tighter overall gameplay, while Left 4 Dead 2 has melee weapons and easy modding. Yes, the multiplayer in L4D is almost nonexistent, but that's Valve's fault. As an overall zombie apocalypse experience Left 4 Dead is better, but if you really want to cheap out then you can go with Left 4 Dead 2. You're just missing out on the best game ever.

No not this, this was a stupid speach. I played both on Xbox and the only difference is the controls.
I asked for a "yes" or a "no" basiclly and this guys is all die hard fan here. No. I'm ignoring this ♥♥♥♥.

The first is a waste of money at this point. That's the truth. You can play the original campaigns in the sequel, so the original may as well not exist anymore. It's simply obsolete; much like Borderlands 1, although that still has unique DLCs.

Yeah, I'd say buy l4d2 for sure if you want to get all the maps for one purchase. L4D2 Comes with all of L4D2's Maps and campaigns like the Dark Carnival with NIck and Ellis, plus all of l4d1's campaigns and characters free of charge. (Which is why L4d2 is twice as large a download)

There are differences within the game mechanics as well, but they really shouldn't matter except to hardcore fans of L4D1, it pretty much amounts to...
-No spitter, jockey, or charger special infected to shove people out of corners. There's also no "uncommon" infected like the special fallen survivor, riot police, or construction workers in l4d1 but who cares about them anyways?
-Different "director"(aka zombie spawning mechanics) rules for each game. In general L4d2 pressures you to move forward by summoning a horde of zombies to chase you if you stay still too long.
-Shotguns have less ammo in L4d2. I think down from around 150 to 100 shots for balancing reasons.
- You can stare at your feet in L4d1,..... yes, this is a serious reason some people consider buying l4d1 over l4d2.... Where your feet are invisible for a good reason, who wants to waste their time looking at them anyways?

Get L4D2, before when they hadn't ported over all of the first game's maps I considered getting it but now there is no point.

Almost everything they added to 2 is an improvement over the first, except for the fact that there are a few ridiculously strong weapons that make playing infected unfun the rare moments they happen to spawn.

The thing is, L4D2 was gifted to me yesturday, and i had $5 put on my accounbt today. So i was going to buy L4D1 to finish the collection but i wanted to know. To late now, i baught a Strange Blood Banker painbted gold to match my gold fancy fadora.
