Impatient players
I thought I'd share this so you all would be aware about this. Last week, I was playing the Dead Air campaign with 3 random players. Two of them were decent, while one of them was constantly whining and telling the team to "Hurry the hell up". That guy did not bother looking for supplies and just ran off by himself while the three of us were searching for items. When one of us told him to "Stop running off ahead", he replied with an invalid excuse which says "I don't want to sit at one place getting killed by the zombies". He didn't know that we already cleared the area before looking for items, and we were not standing at one place for very long. When we reached the metal detector, he started the gauntlet when the team was not ready yet, and then all of us got killed within 1 minute. He shot everyone after that, until we finally votekicked him.

You need patience to survive a campaign but not too much. If you are standing at one place for too long, the AI director will spawn a horde to keep you busy. Just take some time searching the rooms or the area for items and once done, you can continue (don't do this in gauntlet crescendo events)

I would agree that 'shopping' (looking for items) in campaign is okay, depends on the difficulty/map because generally if you're a good player it's hard to get incapped with your team around, and you know what you're doing.
However, yes this player sounds like a carbon copy of many players who think they're above all others and own the game and feel free to do as they wish/see fit.

However, if you're dawdling and shopping in versus, don't be surprised if you are votekicked.
You generally don't have time to constantly shop for items in versus. (I say generally, as there are times when it is acceptable/necessary)
But those who incessantly shop are those who whine when they fall behind the team and are incapped by one infected, then the team goes back to save them (sometimes) and the team is then ambushed.
That's that ♥♥♥♥♥ I don't like.
I agree that in versus there's no time for item searching unless it's neccessary to do so. I'm talking about impatient players in campaign mode who whine like crap and complaining about the team being "very slow". They would normally run off very far ahead of the rest of the team, and when they get killed, they blame the team for their own actions.

Yeah, I agree to an extent.
Although if a team is searching every room, alleyway and opening for pills or a pipe bomb they don't really need, it gets frustrating. Dawdling in general will make people angry, but then again, that's why I generally don't play campaign :)
I rush campaign. Only if at least 1 other player does it & stays with me. I also do not mind looking for items. But if all players have a full inventory, ( all4 have explosives, med kit & pills or adreneline ) then what is the point of looking around?

Although the philosophy in VS is " less time in a map = less time for special infected to spawn ", it can still be applied to campaign as well. Taking less damage is the name of the game in ALL modes. I am sorry. I cannot in good faith agree in stalling in ANY mode in L4D 2. It causes losses from my experience. And I can say for sure, that me clearing Expert back years ago was from navigating from point A - point B in a fast manner. Not reckless..... but still in a fast pace no less.

Even on campaign, you should maintain a quick pace (especially on Expert). You shouldn't look for items that you don't need. This could be because everyone already has a full inventory, or a static spawn for items is coming up. It is the entire team's job to stay together, so if somebody runs ahead, you should try your best to catch up to them or at the very least communicate what you're doing back there. It isn't about a player being impatient, its just a different playstyle and comfort level. Once you've played the campaigns several times, you know where and when to look for items and where and when not to. The moral of the story, is communicate and tell your teammates what to do. If they run ahead, that means you need to move faster as well. If you're waiting in the back and laughing at them when they get pinned, you're as much at fault as they are, especially if there are bots in the game.

Its about the time. You really dont need to check every corner for one adrenaline shot. Team made of 4 rushers will succeed more often than turtle tempo team. I usually try to fit my teammates playstyle and stay back to look after them but I enjoy the fast players.

Campaign is different. Specials hold off spawning until locations or thresholds are reached. If you never go forward because you're too busy inspecting the WD40 textures in some empty garage, specials won't spawn.

That doesnt seem to be true.

I started a Dark Carnival coop, went to the motels, killing all zombies.
Then ran back to the starting area where the cars are and guess what happened, a Tank spawned there.
After that i camped and Specials started to spawn regularly, so no change.

There wont be zombies behind you if you clear the area, but occassionally the AI Director will spawn a Horde just to keep you busy.

Edit: just to comment the topic: yes most players are quite impatient.
Every time im in a lobby with friends and someone join, they almost always hit the Vote to start button immediately.
No greetings of course, except some "go mofos".

If you wont start the game in 10 seconds after they joined they usually leave.

Yes, this is mostly false. There are times when SI spawns will be disabled in campaigns, but for the most part, they won't stop. On campaign mode, SI spawns are disabled during tank fights and before some crescendo events like Dead Center_2, after you've hit the button at the gun shop but before you go into the store to get the coke.

But random places within a map? The longer you wait, the more SI you will fight, the more common you will fight, costing you ammo and health. On campaign mode, common will only spawn in places that haven't been explored yet by your team, and are near the survivors, typically behind them. The SI can spawn in any area where the survivors do not have line of sight. This is how the director works.

guess even the hunter was sick of his ♥♥♥♥.. XD)

Being patient is okay (I guess) because if you run infront of your teammates, most likely
you'll get caught by a smoker charger jockey etc. So if you stay together ypu can help eachother when ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ needed!
Being patient is one thing. Taking too much time so that all players have no ammo from fighting hordes is another. Unfortunately people do not realise this. And as a result, I end up having people die in campaign because of it. Hate it even more when people become wimps & quit the game. Or worst.... they start blaming you. And even grief / troll by friendly fire cause they get mad.
