LFD1 maps all in LFD2?
Did I understand it correctly? LFD2 now contains all maps from LFD1?

Yes, it contains all 4 original campaigns plus the crash course dlc, all slightly edited and updated for L4D2.

What do you mean now? It's been like that for a while..

Yeah, 2 years I think? There are a total of 13 official campaigns in L4D 2 since the final DLC.

Thanks! Then if I own LFD2 I don't need LFD1, right?

The maps are a bit different and there seems to be a lot of debate on this forum about how the original versions are much better, but if you're going to get one, get L4D2, it is in my opinion the superior game anyway, and of course has much more content than the first.

Just do L4D2, you won't need L4D probably ever.

\o/ Thanks!

Personally I say get both. Left 4 dead is still great to play.
Just get the first game when it has a sale.

Left 4 dead 2 feels alot easier than the first game.

Don't forget to check out custom campaigns. Loads of good custom campaigns out there:

I'd recommend Left 4 Nine, Suicide Blitz, The Bloody Moors, I Hate Mountains, Back To School, Dead Before Dawn DC and Redemption. They are my personal top custom campaigns, as good as Valve ones in some cases.

You may prefer L4D maps in L4D if you like playing without L4D2's additions, like the new special infected and melee weapons. In particular, L4D's maps weren't designed for balance with the mobility-affecting Charger and Jockey. Ledges become a lot scarier in L4D's maps when a Charger can knock survivors off them or a Jockey can ride people off them. It works well for No Mercy, but it can be a learning curve.

yep

The AI of various special infected have been altered from the first game. The finest example being that the tank in L4D1 hardly threw rocks, and actually moved faster when caught on fire.

Yes and no. The ported campaigns are modified Versus versions, meaning there is less cover and the holdout points and strategies are different. FU gauntlets have been added to three of the four original no-DLC campaigns at the end of the fourth chapter and quite often before as well. It would also appear that some dialogue functionality present in the first game is missing in the second, or heavily biased toward one specific set of lines.

If you want the original L4D experience, only L4D can provide that. If you don't care, then L4D2 will suffice, but you're still missing out.

As a friend said, I also think that L4D1 has a totally different experience from L4D2, since the gameplay at high level in these games is totally different.
