Report a translation problem
The maps are a bit different and there seems to be a lot of debate on this forum about how the original versions are much better, but if you're going to get one, get L4D2, it is in my opinion the superior game anyway, and of course has much more content than the first.
Just get the first game when it has a sale.
Left 4 dead 2 feels alot easier than the first game.

I'd recommend Left 4 Nine, Suicide Blitz, The Bloody Moors, I Hate Mountains, Back To School, Dead Before Dawn DC and Redemption. They are my personal top custom campaigns, as good as Valve ones in some cases.
If you want the original L4D experience, only L4D can provide that. If you don't care, then L4D2 will suffice, but you're still missing out.
