Why L4D does not run properly anymore?
Ok, I have an Intel HD 4000 in my laptop, I know is not the best. I was two days playing it correctly, smoothly, but suddenly I started to get less than 5 FPS. Then I updated the drivers and played with no problems, and the next day I could not play anymore, getting a poor performance again.
I have windows 8 and 8GB RAM
Any suggestions? I should be able to play with no problems with this card.

it's probably something else , especially since you said you've been able to run it fine at first. is your laptop overheating? every tried run a software like cpu-ID to monitor the temperature?

Check your computer for viruses or adware? I don't know much about computers but my games ran laggy and found out a program was overflowing with adware. I deleted it all, and my games run perfect.. minus 2.

Sometimes L4D2 resets all of my graphical settings and causes my performance to tank because it set everything on max. Just check your gfx settings and use recommended settings (recommended is sometimes accurate). Hope this helps!

Thank you all, I continued looking for help and I did the one that said to run it in windows 7 compatibility mode and started to run OK!

If you have any more problems try running the Verify Game Integerity option in Properties. My game wasn't working after installing Windows 8.1 and that fixed it and it works now.
