So basically you want L4D to be ruined with unlocks and upgrades? :P There would be a mass outrage.
Put the bow in the game like planned.
A classic undead zombie mutation.
No workshop.
Not glitch and bug infested like l4d2.
Plus.. I want atleast 1 bolt rifle in the game.. I hate semi snipers. No challenge, way too overpowered. Just long distance shotguns with more ammo..
and as munkey said:
Also, not reallyif you headshot, you kill all the SI in 1 hit, which is easy from a distance.
But he means, he only wants the game to come out.
General Overarching Rule #0) More effort. Valve has a blank slate for time to make this game, they need to take the time to make it a masterpiece like Left 4 Dead is. It doesn't have to revolutionize the gaming industry, but it has to be clean, efficient, bug-free, and feel like a complete game. (Left 4 Dead 2 just does not. No more of that.)
1) Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. Left 4 Dead had it, and that game still surprises me to this day. It is far more beautiful than anything Left 4 Dead 2 could hope to be. Let's bring that back. Also ditch the banjos for a full orchestra like it was in the first game.
_1A) Better Infected designs. All across the board. Left 4 Dead's Infected, even though _they're lower-detailed, have more variety, better aesthetics, better sounds, and react to _being shot better. The Specials are also much more believable. I want my pale Infected _back. And let's not have them fall apart like potatoes that have been rotting in the sun for _three weeks, please. I vote for more realistic gore as would happen on a live human. Only a _shotgun should take an Infected's chest out.
__1B) I'm also going to go with other ideas and say multiple Special skins would be nice.
2) Better animations. Just all around. Weapons are where the effort is needed most, I want to see quality retail weapon animations with full empty reloads to encourage tactical reloading, and multiple draw/shoot/reload/first pickup sequences for variety. Add the server-side option to turn full reloads on or off depending upon admin preference. Allow modders a way to add new animations, client- or server-side, and not be forced to modify what's already included.
I want a return of the first-person body. That aids immersion enormously, I have a hard time accepting the lack of a body in games without one.
This also needs to apply to the Infected, especially the Commons. Once again, Left 4 Dead stands high above Left 4 Dead 2 in this respect. The Infected looks like they're sprinting for you, as opposed to shuffling awkwardly, and many of their death/reaction animations are more fluid and organic. That needs to come back.
3) New survivors. It's time to let the established ones go, and keep them in their ported campaigns, if the campaigns are forward-ported. I also do not want the Midnight Riders, as they'd just be coarse, and pretty damn dull and repetitive. Something new, and something more serious than the lot we just had. I really want the new survivors to have a "laugh to keep from crying" mentality, and react to the apocalypse more like the original survivors did. Left 4 Dead 2 is much more of a zombie murder sitcom, and the characterization and atmosphere suffer very heavily for it. GIve us some survivors with emotion, nd not just one liners and Keith stories.
4) New levels that are larger to exploit the power of Source 2, and overall less linear or railroading. I'd also really like to see multiple paths, much like the original concept for Left 4 Dead, each path with its own safehouse and crescendos, its own identity. Maybe even multiple finales. Nothing open world, that would all but eliminate the objective gameplay Left 4 Dead embodies.
As for setting, I'm voting somewhere in the western US, like Colorado or somewhere mountianous. Such a setting would allow for great vertical gameplay, as well as settings like mines or ghost towns.
5) Improved AI behavior and navigation. The bots as they are are mind-numbingly limited in their capacities. What I want to see is better response, a slightly increased following distance, and an ability to defib or at least carry defibs when they don't have a medkit. I want to see them also carry and give off throwables to player characters. Areas to look at in particular are situations where two survivors are incapacitated and pinned survivors on or near a ladder.
6) Better melee hitreg. There are times where an attack will make hit sounds, spray some blood, and the target in question will continue straight on like nothing ever happened. This needs to change, for reliability's sake.
7) A sound and light reaction system for the Commons. The more noise you or other Commons make, the more they pay attention. Firearms, falshlights on and running attract more attention than melee weapons, going dark and crouch walking. If you use a Molotov, they become more aware. If you are in a well-lit area, they notice you more easily as opposed to outside in the dark. This system should also apply to the Witch, to make her more easily agitated and thus more of an obstacle to be considered. If this is implemented, I would also advocate silencer attachments that can be randomly found like laser sights, and attachable to pretty much every main weapon but shotguns. (I'd also consider pistol secondaries, but how you decide between primary and pistols for the upgrade, I haven't figured out.)
If nothing else, make this a Mutation gametype.
There might be more to come. There will probably be a "Things that I don't want in L4D3" post at some point too.
