Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2

Zobrazit statistiky:
What would you like to see in Left 4 Dead 3?
I made a previous thread about this, but I thought I would go more in depth for what I would like to see if they made a Left 4 Dead 3. Note: I am basing these off of L4D1. I posted it in the L4D2 boards because most people who want a L4D3 play L4D2, and some points I make will be based off of L4D2.

First, I would obviously like to see it on the Source 2 engine. I think that would be more immersive if the game looked more realistic. No, this isn't me saying to make the game realistic so it looks like CoD or something, I am just saying the with the Source 2 engine, it would look good. Alongside with support for the Oculus Rift, imagine a tank battle.

Secondly I would like the game to be more challenging. The game right now is pretty easy for experienced players to just rush through without teammates and yet the developer commentary makes so much emphasis on teamwork, yet it is so easy for pro players to rush through with hardly any teamwork. I would like to see the Special Infected becoming more powerful like in Versus such as Hunters in campaign doing extra damage on a pounce, and maybe smokers doing damage on pulling and Boomers trying to vomit on multiple targets like you can in versus. I would also like to see better Tank AI rather than brainlessly following the target. I would like to see the tank throwing cars over obstacles to try to get survivors from above. When survivors jump from platform to platform I want to see the tank jump to that same platform and get mid air swings on the Survivors rather than jumping off and climbing back up repeatedly until the Tank is dead. Maybe while the tank is throwing rubble he can take small steps towards the survivors rather than standing still. Perhaps the Tank can climb faster and do jumps to grab onto certain platforms, for example if a survivor is walking across an elevated platform, (such as the one in No Mercy when you activate the lift by the gas station) the tank instead of taking a long time to climb the big vehicle then climb on the platform, the tank instead does a quick vault up the truck and then does a jump to get closer to the survivors before grabbing on the ledge. I think those things would make tank battles more intense and challenging.

Thirdly I would like maps that have the atmosphere of L4D. As much as I like the L4D2 maps, the L4D1 maps have a more dark tone to them and I think L4D3 needs more of that. Day time maps are fine too, though. Speaking of maps, I would like maps that don't have to be rebalanced for versus and aren't easy to just hold out in one spot till the rescue vehicle arrives such as the stair room in No Mercy finale.

Fourthly I would like high quality animation akin to the animations in Counter Strike Global Offensive. The animations in that game are so professionally done and so smooth. The ones in Left 4 Dead 1 are somewhat plain, and in Left 4 Dead 2 the animations are more fluid (L4D1 fanboys incoming), but not quite as fluid as CSGO.

Fifthly I would like them to add realistic weapon mechanics to the weapons like manually chambering a shell in the shotguns from L4D1 when you emptied the tube entirely, and perhaps they could do that with all the weapons in the game, even if it doesn't actually affect the reload time. On the other hand, they could go in the direction of CSGO and make it so that you manually chamber all of the weapons regardless of ammo count so it can be like 'in the movies'.

Sixthly I would like to see more replayability on the levels. Even though the director can place commons and specials and items randomly, it still gets a bit repetitive after a while and the game needs a bigger randomness factor. In Left 4 Dead 2 it is a bit more random due to the random weapons that spawn in random locations. Sometimes you might get an M16, sometimes you might get an AK47. Perhaps there could be barricades randomly set up, like some people mounted wooden crates on top of each other to mount a machine gun for example, and these crates would be just like the ones in L4D1, breakable and movable. Perhaps certain glass could be randomly selected to be broken. Subtle things like that could make a subtle start.

Seventhly I would like intelligent bots. Read this thread for more info on the topic: http://steamcommunity.com/app/550/discussions/0/35222218815064949/?tscn=1409512445

What do you guys think? Do you think this could improve or ruin Left 4 Dead?

On my opinion L4D2 have nothing different with L4D1 is the same thing!! I whould like L4D3 but with different maps and mods.
different special infected would be nice as well as more weapons
I'd like to see people on the future L4D3 forums not make identical threads.
let's see , a flame thrower ,throwable melee weapons, infected animals ,earn air support by points in missions involving armed forces responces ,upgradeable weapons and armor .free beer and peanuts for everyone
They should remove the jockey or make it weaker because jockies are pain in the head because they are overpowered. They should allow the weapons to aim instead of shooting without aiming. They should include a lot more weapons, weapons from Battlefield 4 are very cool. They should include customization for weapons, such as red dot sights and grips, just like Battlefield 4.

So basically you want L4D to be ruined with unlocks and upgrades? :P There would be a mass outrage.
It's actual existence.
Working 3rd person view, like resident evil 5 or 6, since I like 3rd person.

Put the bow in the game like planned.

A classic undead zombie mutation.

No workshop.

Not glitch and bug infested like l4d2.

Plus.. I want atleast 1 bolt rifle in the game.. I hate semi snipers. No challenge, way too overpowered. Just long distance shotguns with more ammo..

Variety, improved graphics, new weapons, new types of zombies, etc. Just variety in general.

Why would you want to remove the ability for mod creators to upload their hard work? Also Left 4 Dead 2 has 2 bolt rifles, and 'semi snipers' (I think you meant sniper rifles) are somewhat underpowered and rarely used compared to the rifles and shotguns. What does "It's actual existence." mean?
Eh, true I will give you that on the workshop. Also, 2 bolt rifles are only for other countries. I need admin system to use them, which means online with friends, I can't unless we do local.. which sucks.

Also, not reallyif you headshot, you kill all the SI in 1 hit, which is easy from a distance.

But he means, he only wants the game to come out.

They kill in one hit without headshots too but aren't very useful during hordes and all the other rifles can kill in one hit to the head. Yeah I realized what Munkey meant although I was confused because they used an apostrophe in 'it's'.
Idk, I never had much issue with a sniper against a horde. I just keep moving in a circle pushing them back and shooting.
Here's the laundry list. Wall of Text warning, no TL;DR available.

General Overarching Rule #0) More effort. Valve has a blank slate for time to make this game, they need to take the time to make it a masterpiece like Left 4 Dead is. It doesn't have to revolutionize the gaming industry, but it has to be clean, efficient, bug-free, and feel like a complete game. (Left 4 Dead 2 just does not. No more of that.)

1) Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. Left 4 Dead had it, and that game still surprises me to this day. It is far more beautiful than anything Left 4 Dead 2 could hope to be. Let's bring that back. Also ditch the banjos for a full orchestra like it was in the first game.

_1A) Better Infected designs. All across the board. Left 4 Dead's Infected, even though _they're lower-detailed, have more variety, better aesthetics, better sounds, and react to _being shot better. The Specials are also much more believable. I want my pale Infected _back. And let's not have them fall apart like potatoes that have been rotting in the sun for _three weeks, please. I vote for more realistic gore as would happen on a live human. Only a _shotgun should take an Infected's chest out.

__1B) I'm also going to go with other ideas and say multiple Special skins would be nice.

2) Better animations. Just all around. Weapons are where the effort is needed most, I want to see quality retail weapon animations with full empty reloads to encourage tactical reloading, and multiple draw/shoot/reload/first pickup sequences for variety. Add the server-side option to turn full reloads on or off depending upon admin preference. Allow modders a way to add new animations, client- or server-side, and not be forced to modify what's already included.

I want a return of the first-person body. That aids immersion enormously, I have a hard time accepting the lack of a body in games without one.

This also needs to apply to the Infected, especially the Commons. Once again, Left 4 Dead stands high above Left 4 Dead 2 in this respect. The Infected looks like they're sprinting for you, as opposed to shuffling awkwardly, and many of their death/reaction animations are more fluid and organic. That needs to come back.

3) New survivors. It's time to let the established ones go, and keep them in their ported campaigns, if the campaigns are forward-ported. I also do not want the Midnight Riders, as they'd just be coarse, and pretty damn dull and repetitive. Something new, and something more serious than the lot we just had. I really want the new survivors to have a "laugh to keep from crying" mentality, and react to the apocalypse more like the original survivors did. Left 4 Dead 2 is much more of a zombie murder sitcom, and the characterization and atmosphere suffer very heavily for it. GIve us some survivors with emotion, nd not just one liners and Keith stories.

4) New levels that are larger to exploit the power of Source 2, and overall less linear or railroading. I'd also really like to see multiple paths, much like the original concept for Left 4 Dead, each path with its own safehouse and crescendos, its own identity. Maybe even multiple finales. Nothing open world, that would all but eliminate the objective gameplay Left 4 Dead embodies.

As for setting, I'm voting somewhere in the western US, like Colorado or somewhere mountianous. Such a setting would allow for great vertical gameplay, as well as settings like mines or ghost towns.

5) Improved AI behavior and navigation. The bots as they are are mind-numbingly limited in their capacities. What I want to see is better response, a slightly increased following distance, and an ability to defib or at least carry defibs when they don't have a medkit. I want to see them also carry and give off throwables to player characters. Areas to look at in particular are situations where two survivors are incapacitated and pinned survivors on or near a ladder.

6) Better melee hitreg. There are times where an attack will make hit sounds, spray some blood, and the target in question will continue straight on like nothing ever happened. This needs to change, for reliability's sake.

7) A sound and light reaction system for the Commons. The more noise you or other Commons make, the more they pay attention. Firearms, falshlights on and running attract more attention than melee weapons, going dark and crouch walking. If you use a Molotov, they become more aware. If you are in a well-lit area, they notice you more easily as opposed to outside in the dark. This system should also apply to the Witch, to make her more easily agitated and thus more of an obstacle to be considered. If this is implemented, I would also advocate silencer attachments that can be randomly found like laser sights, and attachable to pretty much every main weapon but shotguns. (I'd also consider pistol secondaries, but how you decide between primary and pistols for the upgrade, I haven't figured out.)

If nothing else, make this a Mutation gametype.

There might be more to come. There will probably be a "Things that I don't want in L4D3" post at some point too.
