Anyone with Left4Gore wanna help?
I'm an Australian with the crappy censored version, I recently heard of Left4Gore and downloaded it and everything, but how do I use it? I read the README and followed all the instructions but when I play the game via .exe it says "Steam is not running. Steam must be running in order for this game to run" or something along those lines, and when I run L4D2 via steam, it doesn't crash but it also doesn't work. Any help?

PS: For some reason the intro is uncensored, but the game still isn't

I have the cut german version, but for me Left4Gore works fine. I have version 2.3 and like you I activate the program first and the open Left 4 Dead 2 via Steam.

Do you actual hear this beep sound that the program is active when you start the game? If yes and the game is still censored, you could check the options if the gore ingame is actually active. You should be to see it under Options -> Multiplayer.

Unfortunately I can't hear a beep, and my gore setting is already at high...

Then then Patch isn't working, but I fear that I can't help you with that either, because it seems that you mad everything right.

What may could help you to make the game uncut is this appID 510 trick http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1002827&page=189 It worked for me, but you can't play multiplayer when you use it

im pretty sure there's an update for this on the actual l4d2 store page
They added the gore a couple months ago., you might have to re download the game
