Can you still get the "oldschool" acheiviment if you have had another veapon in your inventory?

As the title says. Can you still get the "oldschool" acheiviment even if you have had a veopen, like the revolver, in your inventory? No, I haven't used the gun, haven't even loaded it. Just had it in the inventory.

The reason for why I'm asking is because I'm still on my first paytrough. And I just kind of decided to try for that acheiviment first so I didn't have to bother with it on another playtrough. Tough I'm kind of facing hard times right now, so ifI already have ruined my chance of getting the acheiviment, then I might as well just broaden my arsenal.

I think you can get it as long as you don't deal damage to bots with any weapon but the pistol. I don't think mines count as weapons for the achievement's sake though.

Do not shott from any weapon, but pistol. Mines don't count.
