How to download the Native Oculus version
While Heart of the Emberstone is available on Oculus Home, purchasing the game on Steam will also unlock the native OVR version--exactly as you'd find it on Oculus Home. This allows fans to have their game in their preferred library or platform, regardless of their headset.

To download the native OVR version, simply right click the game in Steam, select "properties," and then go to the betas tab. Select "native_ovr" and begin your download.

A good advice except that it doesn't work. Firstly, there's no more a "native_ovr" option. Instead there's a "open_vr only" option, and when selecting this (+waiting for the update to finish) it messes everything up and the game won't start at all.

The option is different between both episodes. With episode 1 (Call of the Starseed), the Native Oculus version is installed by default. If you've selected "open_vr only" for Call of the Starseed, then you have removed the native OVR launcher.

For Episode 2, which this forum reflects, you'll need to select the "native_ovr" beta to download the native OVR launcher.
