Attention: I've been receiving many friend requests from people who think i'm a developer of My Summer Car, that is false, i'm just a big fan of the project who is willing to help the community. I would rather answer to questions here than via private message, please keep that in mind and don't add me. Thank you.

Some of you might have some doubts, so this is the thread for you, in here you will find answers to most questions. If you don't find your question here, you can post it and I will add it to the list.

This FAQ will keep being updated.


Q: Is this game real?
A: As insane as it sounds, the game is real and as awesome as you see on the trailers, give it a try as soon as it's released.

Q: Will the game feature multiplayer?
A: Short answer: no, it will never happen. The game isn't designed for multiplayer and it would likely require a complete remake to make it work. Despite not having plans for multiplayer for this game, the developer might consider it for future games.

Q: How much will the game cost?
A: The game will cost 14,99€ at launch with a one week discount.

Q: Will there be DLC for My Summer Car?
A: If the game succeeds, which it is very likely, there is a possibility that we might see some DLC, possibly something like My Winter Car.

Q: Can we only modify that main car?
A: Right now, only that car can be fully modified. There might be more plans for other modable cars, but it's still uncertain during this time of development.

Q: How do we know where to go?
A: One interesting thing about this game is that you have to learn every road to reach important places such as the gas station. While you won't be able to check the map while on the road like in GTA, you will be provided with a map at your house which allows you to study the area. Be creative, take a screenshot of the map and print it.

Q: Is this an arcade game or is it focused on realism?
A: The game is meant to be as realistic as possible, there is no "car masturbation fantasy" like you see in Assetto Corsa or Project Cars. You have to work for your money, you have to build your own car and you have to deal with real world problems.

Q: What vehicles can we drive right now?
A: The main car (Datsun), a tractor, a delivery van, a truck, an american car and a boat. More vehicles might be added during the game's development.

Q: Are there any subtitles for those who don't know finnish?
A: The game lets you enable english subs and some of the text in the game is presented in english. The catalogue doesn't need to be translated because you already get the item's picture and the price.

Q: Can I add my custom songs to the game?
A: Yes you can, here's a guide by the developer on how to add your own songs:

Q: Do I need to know enough about car mechanics?
A: Even though anyone can build a car in this game, having some knowledge in car building can really help you. The game is very realistic, so you may have some issues if you miss critical steps while building your car.

Q: How do you make money in this game?
A: You have to earn your own money by delivering wood and draining sewers with a septic truck.

Q: Wasn't the price going to be randomly between 1$ and 20$ each update with the first price being some Finnish lottery result?
A: Those were the plans, but Steam doesn't support that system, so it had to be scrapped.

Q: How do I disable permadeath?
A: Even though the option seems to be somewhat hidden, you can still disable permadeath. To do it, create a new game and in the driver's card, click the permadeath option. If done right, the "on" text will disappear and you will be able to play the game without permadeath.

Q: Are there cheats in this game?
A: Console commands were removed from the game because they were causing issues. The developer is considering adding real cheat codes in the future.

Q: How do I disable the annoying mosquito and flies sound?
A: There's no volume slider for those, you will have to check your dirtyness bar in the HUD. To decrease the character's dirtyness, use the sauna in the house followed by a can of mosquito spray.

Will this have Steam cloud support for game saves? Also multiple game save slots?
