Hello new players! Welcome! + our official discord channel.
Hi everyone,

I know a lot of you are probably new players coming from the Steam sale. I want to take a moment to welcome you to the community and invite you all to leave comments and suggestions here in this thread.

Very excited to say hello to the new community and hear your thoughts on the game; what you like, dislike, or think can be improved!

I would also like to invite you all to hang out on our official discord channel. There are plenty of experienced players on there most of the time. https://discord.gg/DxZuRtE

Question
how much time does the "usual" player spend playing this game ?
fauxoperativegames  [developer] Jun 24, 2017 @ 3:34pm
Hey Razielite! According to our metrics, the average time played across all users is 3 hours and 14 minutes, but that includes a lot of users that have purchased the game on sale and haven't fired it up yet so it's hard to say!

I think the best thing to do, if you are curious about that type of thing, is to drop in to our discord and ask some of our players what their experience has been... or to take a look at some of the reviews on the store page.

There are several players I know of that have played the game for 90+ hours or more, so I think it really depends what kind of player you are!

Well my question was generally pointed to the whole idea of "replay-value"
Is it like Enter the gungeon or nuclear throne or binding of isaac, as in do i have reasons to replay it if I finished a run ? are they strong reasons or just cosmetic ?

The main mechanic that we have to instill replayability after beating the game is our Chaos Card system. Basically, Chaos Cards are hidden around the game and can be gained by completing benchmarks (like defeating noteworthy bosses) or doing a specific hidden sidequest that is unique to each one. Each different Chaos Card can be equipped for a different effect, they alter the game in many ways; change the difficulty, add a new special mechanic (such as being chased by a demon), altering the way rules of the game work, changing the way enemies spawn or behave, changing starting gear... etc...

There a character in the main lobby that will give the players clues to unfound chaos cards.

A few other thoughts on replayability; once you get to the third floor, we allow our players to start there, but also visit the shop first. This allows you a lot of customizability early in the game to avoid the issue in some roguelikes where you don't have much new stuff to experiment with in the earlier floors.

The other thing is that, in my experience, it takes players about 14-20 hours to become skilled enough at the game to clear it for the first time.

Here is a review which touches a lot on replayability that you might find interesting as well:

I hope that answers your question! :)

That really does answer my question thank you very much : )
I usually go read steam reviews but the top ones are by people who played it for a few hours and haven't written many and I am the type that write long extended reviews "also like reading them" that features everything about the game " Goes to the point directly" instead of a long talk like some like to which I think is sort of a waste of time.

The review you linked is pretty nice :)

Razielite,

Gotcha, There are at least one review up on the store page from someone that has played 50+ hours so you might want to track that down as well.

Glad I could answer your questions, feel free to drop us a line any time! :)

Do you have any upcoming features/updates to the game ? or any upcoming projects ?
fauxoperativegames  [developer] Jun 25, 2017 @ 2:18am
Hey Razielite,

Right now we are working on a Russian Translation, there is also a Spanish translation on the way.

I have been in early discussions with Danny (my design partner) about the types of content we could consider adding in a free expansion; but I don't want to make any promises just yet. Suffice to say that we do have some possible content planned and it would almost certainly be free to all users if it does materialize. The more copies we sell, the more likely this type of thing becomes.

Besides that, we will of course be monitoring player feedback and making adjustments as necessary.

As far as other projects, yes we have a few ideas in the works but nothing that we're ready to make any announcements about just yet.
