Hi guys,
We are currently investigating this issue which only appeared recently, most likely with one of the last updates.
In the meanwhile, try to follow these solutions:
- Try to install latest nVidia drivers for your GPU
- Try to change FOV, likely reset it to 90 or reduce to even lower values.
- Try to disable Tutorials from the game options menu.
Best,
Caracal Games
Hi LORDLANCE,
we received the emails you sent and we are currently investigating this crash.
thanks for your support, it mean a lot us!

Caracal Games
for those who are experiencing this issue, it seems to be a very uncommon engine-related crash, so please report to us any time it occurs.
After some investigation, we found out that this crash is very widespread among Unreal Engine 4 games

Try to follow the solutions described in the message above, or alternatively follow the workaround used by Dead By Daylight players (it seems to work also on Downward): http://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/7/135509472107458932/
We are sorry for these few users and for the inconvenience.
As it seems mostly related to specific combinations of user hardware and the engine it is not something we can handle directly, we are still investigating and we will eventually ask Epic's opinion on this, in the meantime, everything should work following the steps above.

Caracal Games
I'm very happy not to be alone with this issue ;-) But none of the hints above helped.
The game always (I mean really always) crashes with this issue when entering the meditation mode. It also crashes always when starting a second challange after game start. The first sarted challange runs fine but when starting a second one, it crashes, no matter if I finish the first challange or abort it return to the main menu and start another challange.
In the windows system event viewer this to events of the "nvlddmkm" source are logged hundrets of times in the moment of crash:
Event ID 13: Graphics Exception: ESR 0x404600=0x80000001
Event ID 13: Graphics Exception: EXTRA_INLINE_DATA
Grischi.
Hi, Grischi!
thanks for your report.
According to what you have described, that may be a different issue!
May I ask you more details about:
-which OS are you playing on
-your computer specs

Hi JimmyTheSaint™,
unfortunately not, also version 382.53 is not free from this problem, we are working hard to solve this, but of course being a driver's matter could be tricky. We are going to keep the comunity updated on this before the end of the week!
Althogh this is possibly a driver issue i would consider avoiding UE in the future even though it is a powerful engine/editor. I have not seen many recent PC games without issues when running that engine. Not to mention the support for Mac/Linux is there but not as proactive and just as buggy atm, but things might improve over time..
Perhaps consider Unity for your next game. The devs are more responsive and less disconnected and Vulkan is now supported where it is trailing on UE right now. Plus, EPIC work closely with Nvidia so your potencially going to get mixed results with AMD setups on UE. I don't think they have a Linux driver team or even a single full time Linux employee atm.
Hey Dat Owl, thanks for the advice. This is an important topic, and you made some clear and good points. This time we wanted to test ourselves more on the graphics aspects, so we choose UE4, and that part is going good (in my opinion), next time we will choose also considering this kind of episodes.
