How do I switch characters?

I playing level with Pokey and Zappy... But I need Bitey to continue. How do I switch Zappy for Bitey?

isnt that listed on the controls? just try pressing every key if not

No. I went through the tutorial several times. It says "press B" but that not work (other than switching between the two characters you begin the level with). And of course I pushed all the buttons on my XBOX Controller... including combinations. :(

Is there perhaps a keyboard button I can use?
