Roadmap
I want to make the Early Access development as transparent as possible, so here's a list of features that I have in mind.

Let me be clear. I am not making guarantees on when these things will make it in the game or even if all of them will be included. This is just a guide for what's currently planned. I'm hoping to get releases out every month or every other month.

If you have ideas for things you want added, please share them.

Branches
  • Grotto - A cave filled mostly with beasts
  • River - A dark underground river below the Grotto
  • Maelstrom - Much like DCSS's Abyss, the Maelstrom is a shape shifting landscape
  • Gallery - The home of the Gorgons (described below)
  • Workshop - The birthplace of many magical contraptions and golems
  • Laboratory - A wizard's experiment gone wrong; time passes extremely fast here
  • Underworld - A neverending hellscape flooded in lava and filled with demons
  • Hedge maze - An optional branch that is, well.... a maze

Monsters
  • Water themed monsters - Electric eels, crocodiles, etc.
  • Nymphs - Fast, flying creatures with elemental attacks
  • Skeleton archers - To add some ranged threats beyond humans
  • Gorgons - Can turn you into stone and then blast you
  • Ghouls - Not sure the details yet, but they'll be able to attack with Psychic damage and lower your defenses
  • Toadstools - Slow moving sentient mushrooms that attack with an array of poisons
  • New humans/vamps - They'll be more interesting than your standard grunts and mercenaries
  • Demons - You know, basically the craziest high level monsters I can come up with

Features
  • Save games
  • A score system and a "hall of fame" for past runs
  • Existing branches will be made deeper and given more interesting layouts
  • Additional classes, with an unlock system
  • Lore rewrite
  • More rings and rings will have powerful effects
  • Sleeping monsters
  • Lava and pits
  • Steam Achievements
  • Steam Trading Cards
  • Leaderboards
  • Mac support, Linux support

As far as the first release, I've already written a bunch of UI enhancements. Full mouse support is going to be a big focus.

At this moment, however, I am working on saves. I expect this to be the most complex feature I ever develop for Golden Krone Hotel and it's also one of the most requested, so let's get it out of the way.

In case you missed it, I released the first update a few days ago: v0.6

And I had a few urgent things to fix, so I just pushed 0.6.1 which includes:

  • I had broken moonlight, so that's now fixed
  • Crocodiles are a bit tougher... too tough?
  • Choosing a person to talk to (if you're standing next to more than 1) can be done with mouse

Updated this roadmap. We're 3 updates with hopefully ~6 left to go (I need to pick up the pace!)

If you have any ideas to add, please share them while the window is open.

Only a couple months to go. I'm realizing that I will probably not be able to get in all the branches I wanted before release (but maybe after). I feel the game is already large enough though.

Mac and Linux support would be FANTASTIC. I see you already have that on your to-do list; bravo. I'll be watching and waiting to plunk down my $5 when the Linux version drops.

I'll be watching and waiting to plunk down my $5 when the Linux version drops.

Weeellll, here's the thing on that. I've been yapping about doing a price increase to $10 for a while. My hands are sort of tied. I'm going to release in October and want to do a discount then, so I have to increase the price like right now.

At the same time, I've been putting off mac/linux support until late in development because a) it's just going to be super hard for me as a single dev with no linux machine and b) doing it earlier would have massively increased the dev/testing time for any updates.

I realize this makes it so mac/linux users don't have a chance to buy at $5, but I don't think $10 is too crazy either.

Best option I have is buy it now and get a refund if for any reason the support doesn't turn out great or you simply don't like it. OR If it's a big deal and you are interested, I'll put you down for testing the game.

Thanks for your interest!

EDIT: after this stupid apologetic post above, I just decided to get it working before the increase. So there was a 1 week window where Mac/Linux users could buy at the old price.

So after crossing off a few finished items, the roadmap is pretty much where it's going to be for release. The last month will mostly be polish/balance.

I'm hoping to add in a few more monsters/branches in a post-release patch, but the v1.0 version is pretty much content complete.

Welp. With the last update, that's pretty much everything I had planned.
