really important client and server differ , but not like any other client and server differ i have seen b4
so i have been dealing with this problem for a couple of weeks now and its getting really irritating not to be able to play the game .. so here is the deal , i have had the client and server issue before and i have normally solved it by following the usual response everyone have for this problem which is , going to your shaders deleting it , then going
%appdata%/natural selection 2/ and deleting then verifying the content this worked for the first time, thing is i got it back again.. and this supposed solution is not working .. so please any kind of help would be really appreciated..

Make sure you have no mods active or your connection will be refused from some servers due to the enforcement of consistency checking.

If it still doesn't work with an unmodded client, does it work on the official servers?

i dont have anymods in the mod list neither active nor nothing, unless there is a specific folder i should delete, i have all mods disabled, i can only see a few servers which are empty , other than that i get no servers on my server list, when i try to join a friend of mine via flist, the server and client differ problem always pop up

Hmm well I have just a few suggestions and they are really just theories.

#1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\builds in that folder there should be a zips of what im assuming to be the patches. Try unzipping the most recent build into the actual Natural Selection 2 folder then try running the game if you have to verify. Do that.

#2. You can actually try and delete all the zips (Build zips) in that folder and the natural selection 2 folder. Verify after see what happens.

#3. Make sure your natural selection 2 folder is not set to read only then try a to verify. ( Fun fact my folder was set to read only by default so this is worth a shot)

#4. You can also try uninstalling the game again then completely deleting the Natural selection 2 folder from your appdata folder (or anything else related to ns2 anywhere) then try a fresh install.

If #1 - 4 don't work try the Unknown worlds forums sorry man this is all I got and it's pure speculation. Of course this is assuming you are not trying to join a modded server or have mods currently running. I'm assuming you are not. Good Luck.

i still coulkdnt see no servers on the server list ... you mentioned the world forums that on steam or anyother website ?

Here try doing what I posted in this discussion I'm somewhere near the bottom It has some fixes I've read from the unknown worlds forums. The easiest solution is to completely delete all traces of the game from your computer and giving it a reinstall. The regular steam or program uninstall feature will not get all the folders and will leave leftovers. The game seems to have a problem properly updating some specific files and leaving old files on your computer.

hey frost i think i read your solution, i have tried deleting it a couple times already , do you think i could have a more specific guide throu on what do you need me to do , i tried deleting the game before by steam content , and afterwards by the add and remove programs, and as you siad those dindt work , if what your sayinng in step # 4 to erase all content , which way do you want me to delete those ( if it matters ) and you mentioned also to erase the content from %appdata%/natural selection 2/ ? i am not sure of this last step you thkni t would be too much to confirm ?

Hey sorry for the late response. Yes the problem lies with those old files still existing when you attempted to reinstall the game. Specifically delete these folders in (Not the folders in them the actual folders themselves called natural selection 2) :

- %appdata%/natural selection 2/ ( IF you can't find this one it's because it is a private folder. Quickest way to find it is to press your windows key + r then type in %appdata%. IF the windows + r does not work manually open Run and then type it in afterwards.

- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2

Both these folders still exist after you uninstall the game. So using your prefered method of uninstall (i.e. Steam / Program files uninstall) uninstall the game again.

NOTE:

You don't really even need to use either to uninstall you can just delete the folders but be sure you do not have steam running when you do so. After you delete both of those folders reinstall the game. I have posted other possible fixes in the discussion I linked you if you want to try those though.

But, as I said though easiest possible way is to just completely reinstall the game assuming you have a decent internet connection. Again sorry for the late response and I hope this fixes your problem. Surprised this problem still exist as from what I've read this has been happening a few builds ago.

You may also want to double check that you are not opted for the Natural Selection 2 beta.
Right click on NS2 in the steam library - click properties - click BETAS tab - make sure you are not opted for betas.
