Over-exxageration in the least. It's ok on atmosphere but this is a game made in the image of Savage. If you're like me and can't stand FPS/RTS hybrids (because they do both and are no good in both) then no it's not so great of a game.
NS1 came out before Savage, just saying. I agree with the overexagggeration part though. If NS1 is still alive I'd probably be playing that over this game.
I disagree with both of you. I've Played Savage 1+2 extensively, Nuclear Dawn, NS1+2. Lots of CS, CSS, TFC+TF2, Unreal 2k4, Quake 3, AVP1+2 (all Aliens games following have been absolute console trash).
NS2 is by far the best in the genre. Individually and seperate, its a solid shooter with smoothe mechanics, and interesting classes/weapons. As an RTS, it compares pretty closely to the original Starcraft.
Its a PC shooter, having played Counterstrike for more than a decade, I think the mechanics are quite similar. Tight Controls, fluid movement. Killing requires reflexes, aim, and fancy footwork. If youre not prepared for a challenge, its not for you. On the alien side its fast, and requires even more skill in movement. It also requires teamplay and a thought-out strategy.
Id recommend this game to ANY shooter, or rts fan. Id recommend it 100x over to a fan of the FPS/RTS hybrid genre.
Why would you play the game if you don't like FPS/RTS hybrids?
And in the end of the day, you don't ever have to step into the commander chair, and play it as PURELY FPS. Which is plays very well!
On top of that, they do the RTS elements quite nicely, especially since you have no AI players, but it's all humans. It brings an aspect beyond any other game I've ever played.
I have tried Savage, and it feels like it's made in the 90s. It's a total crap game compared to NS2. And it has NOTHING to do with Aliens, but with the same old 'fantasy' world setting.
That's not to say that the game is perfectly balanced or that some things are overpowered, but all around it's a great game. The devs continually make adjustments and give out free content updates.
How the hell is my post disagreeable. The first sentence is a fact, and the second is what I would do if NS1 is still popular. Logic at its finest....
I disagree that playing NS1 is worthwhile over playing NS2. Wassat about logic?
If you got issues with reading comprehension that's your own problem. Nowhere did I state that playing NS1 is more worthwhile than playing NS2 FOR YOU. Read my quoted sentence one more time and maybe you will understand why it is an irrefutable personal statement.
Riiiight. That was my disagreement....hooked on phonics didnt work for you apparently.
+1
That I can agree on ; )
