"Authentication Failed" When joining a server.

Whenever I attempt to join a server or start a training match I get "Authentication failed, if other multiplayer games have this problem then steam may be down or blocked by your firewall" I checked it out and both Steam and Natural Selection 2 are obviously unblocked and I've been able to play other multiplayer games.

Any idea of what exactly is happening or how to fix it?
