You'll most likely have trouble playing with a real clan then. Your best bet would to either make your own pub clan or join someone else's pub clan.

These two statements contradict one another. As stated above, you should probably just make your own relaxed pub clan.

I suggest you play another game, then... on your own.

i play plenty of games, with people, without mics, thx u.. i dont find it necessary to listen to kids screaming or frenchman that wont ever shutup in order to employ teamwork.

I was going to empathize with you but now I see you're the problem. Do you expect people to drop their hands to the homerow just for you? You're too much, bye!

You're mistaken. NS2 isn't COD. It's not full of kids screaming, Frenchmen often stay on their own servers, and a microphone really is helpful to improve teamwork.
NS2 is complicated, needs quick info, quick decision making, and teamwork. You can't achieve that without a microphone.

If you don't like to listen to others / orders, and can't give information quickly, then you miss a huge part of the game.

Plus, IMO, playing with mates without a microphone is somehow silly :)

So...how do you expect to quickly convey information to your teammates without using a mic? Or vice versa? You can't type while moving around the map, sorry.

And I don't think there's a human being alive that can watch the map for enemy movement, spot something, process that information, AND type "X incoming to Y location" within 0.75 seconds to alert their team so that you have a better chance of defending yourselves, and still have enough time to properly position yourself. By the time you're done typing, it's already too late.

I'm pretty sure every single clan uses voice comms on a regular basis when playing 'seriously'.

itd be ok for marines, if people were sensible with their use. but as aliens, i dont want to hear human voices and think itd be much cooler if we just acted as animals do, in basic coordination while in live combat. furthermore,
frankly, i value immersion almost above all else and most people just have immersion killing voices for whatever game it is. i.e. in BF3 i dont want to hear a little teenager shouting about the jets because that wont happen on a battlefield in reality.
i think systems like just typing a number, combined with the chat's location feature, is easy enough. "4" means 4 coming @ location..
-i dont care about competition either, i play games for entertainment

this is why my OP question was so specific and simple i didnt wana go into all this lol
Hobocop 8. jan. 2014 kl. 6:30
Regarding just typing numbers and using the location feature...what does 4 mean?

4 rifles? 4 shotguns? 2 shotguns, a rifle, and a flamethrower? 4 fades? 2 skulks, a gorge and a lerk?

4 could mean any of these, and each requires significantly different levels of response to combat effectively (i.e., a good fade could probably rinse 4 rifle marines, but when multiple shotguns are involved, he'll probably need backup if the marines are decent shots). It's all well and good within the first five minutes of a round when there's nothing but basic units on the field, but then things get complicated.

The location feature is also slightly misleading. It only shows your current location, not the exact location of the enemy and their likely direction of attack. This is important information to convey at a moment's notice if you're scouting. You may hear enemy activity through a wall, and stopping to type where they are likely to be are leaves you vulnerable and wastes valuable seconds you could be using to get around the map or dealing some damage. Being able to convey this information on the fly makes you infinitely more valuable as a teammate.
