Veteran community gone?

I used to play NS1 all the time back in the day. I bought NS2, played it to death but found it getting shallow. I come back a year later and there are only a handful of servers under 100 ping, all catering to rookies who have no clue what they are doing (leading to tedious games). I see there are over 150+ servers but they are generally empty... Did everyone move on to greener pastures? Or am I just not on at the right times?

PS> very little to no new workshop content for over a year? :( I remember when NS1 had loads of client side accessories being updated weekly-monthly in large quantities. I guess I lived throuygh NS's golden age

There are non-rookie servers that do get full, with reasonable ping

I played in 2012 for 50 hours but I had a bug where the bright flashes from the dual exo suits' guns would freeze my game. When I would log back, I would lose my exo and all of my personal resource points.

I just started playing in June 2014 and I noticed that people play like inexperienced rookies on non-rookie servers. This game was on sale recently...

Agreed. I figured it was my age and exposure to the genre that made it such an incredible experience. However, NS2 just feels shallow and monotonous.

Vets backed out. To not stomp to much. And commanding can be demandfull with team of rookies.
