It wasn't very detailed but in a nutshell:
NS2 Combat is becomming a full game that will cost money.

The improvements:
-The devs have full access to code and thus can make the game better in many ways without worrying about UWE getting in their face about this and that
-The LMG from NS1 is back and probably HMG
-Onos Devour is back (and potential Heavy Armor because of this)
-Sleeker UI
-Ability to bring in a newer player base (NS2 has gotten a bad rep for it's many balance changes and thus no one likes it much anymore)
-Potentially NS1-style gameplay (though it could just be like NS2 combat)
-Many other cool features

Ok that looks promising, I mean the Ns1 combat mods were much more thought-out albeit not perfect, its quite the challenge getting perfect balance, but the current ns2 combat mod has many flaws and balance issues, not all of them I can comprehend.

However this seems to worry me because of the playerbase, its going to be split up with it not doing too well as it is? Seems like it has no chance of success, so this will be DLC like the kodiak DLC? sorry didnt fully read through it.

Here is the Q/A video on that mod btw.

It seems to be a mix of NS1 and NS2, so hopefully it will be a good balance of both.

No, it will be a full game, and yes, some of the playerbase will be split up.
But it wont be much different, besides the fact that some people like to play Combat sometimes and will leave for a few hours to play that.

It will essentially be people going to play a Combat server as opposed to the real thing; just not IN the real thing.

But this standalone can be good for both games.
Combat will bring in people seeking something different from a normal game, but wont be harassed by the unforgiving nature of the Vanilla game, and it will bring in people who have never played or heard of NS2 and potentially get them to buy it at some point.

I guess we will see in time.

NS2 will probably always have players for at least the next 5 years if the community becomes nearly as hardcore as NS1 did.

As long as there is always at least 2-3 active servers, this game will be good to go.

Personally i'm probably going to end up buying Combat, even though I never really got into it (I did have fun though).

I'll def buy it if its 15 dollars or less... or wait till its on sale. My only requirement is that atleast 500 people are playing it daily.

I'm sure NS2 owners will probably get a discount or something on it.
Well I've invested almost 1100 hours into NS2, about 50 in combat mod but I refuse to buy combat stand alone if it is the same price or higher than NS2.

Most likely will be.
NS2 has been on:
-3 Humbles Bundles
-A sale about every month or two since release

Most people besides the first backers and pre-orderers payed a small or large fraction of the price. Anyone else either couldn't wait for a sale or bought it anyway to support them.

I am sure this will -not- happen because of the amount of sales NS2 has been in. You will only prolyl see the pre order sale of 10%.

I wont buy it even for 10 euro. Technically its just NS2 deathmatch.

I would only get if for 5 euro max.

NS2 is allready being community made, and I can only predict NS2 COmbat will be too in the end.

Many of those people who backed are NS1 players :/

How is a 1-hit move that disables the player an extended time a positive improvement? This probably the sole reason I won't buy the game.
It does not disable the player, if you watched the twitch feed you'd know you can hurt the onos that devoured you, alot.
That and it looks dodgable.

Except you can actually get out yourself now.
And from what I hear, punching it's Sphincter actually does damage to it ;)

This is a debatable improvement.
I realize a lot of people didn't like it, but a lot really did.

Sure it felt like a gimmick even in the first NS, but I still liked it.

Edit: Didn't see Azure's post, but yeah.

It kinda makes me wonder what purpose the ability actually serves that couldn't be handled by just...stabbing the offending marine in the face. There was a reason for it to exist in NS1 even if it was a badly designed ability, but it kinda feels like it's there for the sake of it in Combat: Standalone, from what I've heard about it.

In NS1 it was a key feature to deal with HA trains which hard countered about every other life form but Onos...

I am glad they are putting it back in.. however, I still wont buy it unless its like 5 usd
