Marines have guns. Marines can receive instantaneous health that is spawned from nothing. Marines OP? No.
Asymmetrical gameplay? Yes.
You DONT deal 200 damage to one skulk and he survive.
80 damage=8 hits without weapon upgrade vs base skulks armor and hes dead.
So you can kill 3 skulks with one rifle clip + 2 with postol if you hit everything.
If you chip-damage 3 or 4 skulks, all of them can indeed survive and you deal 200 damage.
And you need indeed more time to understand that all aliens are very fragile.
1 shotgun hit=skulk dead
2 shotgun hits point black=lerk dead (with lvl3 weapon=1 shot)
2,5 shotgun hits point black= fade dead
A level 3 shotgun is devastating in the hand of a competent marine.
Goot marine players shreds trough aliens like paper.
There you can see that aliens are not op.
You have just to learn much about this game, thats all.
Play more and you'll see it.
What mostly swings things is obviously the individual skill of the team, it counts for so much in this game, more than any game i've played for a long while. I can see why people constantly reset the teams if its a 200 pts difference etc.
I'd also echo what others have said, new marine players are often instructed to get used to the shotgun, and make it a close personal friend.
Umbra is quite a strong tech for the aliens since it reduces damage. It can often be the turning point of a game.
Aliens might seem OP because you may not know common Alien tactics, yet. Think like an Alien player:
They like to ambush counter with friends
skulk on your RTs counter with mines, sentries, or alternatively assault their hives (kill upgrades and/or hives), harrass their cyst chain (nothing more annoying to Alien commanders).
Knowing where lerks and skulks like to hide is a great boon
Also keep traveling to places near your main even after phasegates are up, gorges will take advantage of a negligent Marine team with sneaky tunnels.
If the aliens like to rush at start, then counter with 3-4 marines (marines have more helath and armor than skulks and can deal mor damage at start) holding in marine start.
Armor upgrades are your friends.
Skulks parasite marines with Armor level 0 (your armor level at the games start), this means they need to land 2 bites to kill a marine. Armor level 1 won't save once fades come on to the field, however Armor level 2 should give you a fighting chance.
Aliens excell at hit and run tactics, to beat this cut off their escape route with marines blocking it. Lastly, as a marine don't travel alone too often.
ahh it's only 2 shots from shotgun to kill a fade ^_^
and lerk can die from 1 shot from a shotgun if you have wep 2 when they have I think biomass 3.
and no marines are better then aliens just watch high level skill gameplay games, marines will win most of the time,
