How do you people git gud at this game?

I decided to play again and just remembered why I stopped. I usually end up with the most deaths on my team whether I'm human or skulk. Most of the video guides I watch mention things I've already tried, so they don't help.

The only thing I'm really good at is being the first one to get onos or exo.

Time. This isn't a new school FPS where you can get lucky kills frequently, this is a game that is very much hardcore and old school. You need to invest time and effort in order to get good.

You want to improve skulks? Do this:

1. Walljumping:
Practise what you learnt form the server on an empty server. Try to do consecutive jumps without stopping. Once you familiar with one map, do it with another map.
Add: If you play aliens use the time without commander to walljump through map.

2. Combat
You basicially don´t go 1 v.s. 1 against a equally good marine IF you cannot catch him by surprise like around a corner or from behind.

Once you engage you try to circle behind him while you bite. If you are right next to the marine do not jump because while you are in air you are a easy target. Instead just approach the marine by strafing left right in different patters to make him waste bullets.

If you try to bite a marine aim and click once and repeat. DONT EVER hold left click to bite like a madman. Its like firing a machingun and hope that one bullet connects.

Most importantly engage with other skulks possibly at the same time form different directions.
