Can community help to translate the game?
Many people in the local forums are willing to help translate the game. Can we do something to help?

I'd want to know that aswell. I could provide some german translations if needed.

I would be more than happy to help with translations into russian if it'll be needed someday! this game is AWESOME! :)
How many people would be interested in an unofficial translation project?

Me too :)
Okay I've thought about the problem a bit and have some notes on the structure of the solution.

The content itself, I'd divide into documents and fragments where documents are large permanent things like TNB articles and fragments are small fleeting things like messages from Symes or datachunk mouseover content. I'd further divide each category into static and dynamic where static items are things that don't change and dynamic items are things that may be different depending on the choices a player makes. For instance, the article about Ronson the GYM owner is static and the interrogation conversation between Symes and Cassandra is dynamic.

Since there is both static and dynamic content, there'll need to be a group of people working on finding every version of each document. Unless someone knows how to make sense of the game files, this means having people play the game a bunch of times and take notes on how to get the different variations. It would be good to be able to build a complete decision tree for the game but that's probably more work than strictly necessary.

This divides the team into three groups. One group of people to find all the possibilities, another group of people to transcribe (digitally or manually) the content so that English plaintext is available and a final group to translate the English text into various other languages. The transcription group can begin with the static documents and move on to the dynamic documents once the exploration team knows how the dynamic stuff shakes out. The translation group will follow directly behind the transcription group.

If people are really keen on the idea, it might be possible to do a thorough enough job that Orwell can be made available to blind users too.

Anyone have criticism/feedback on these ideas?

I tried to decompile resources.assets, but nothing good except video, audio and useless textures I didn't found.
It was great if the developers will create a thread on GitHub or any other project like https://crowdin.com/ and post text strings and any other materials which community could translate .
If someone wants to contact me about this, here is my e-mail: fax1ty@nm.ru

Yeah that would save us a lot of work.

Somehow I don't think that'll be necessary...

Hey everyone,

we get that a lot of you want localized versions of the game. Thanks for offering your help, that's appreciated very much, as we're simply not able to do this on our own.

We will be looking into possible solutions to at the very least export and reimport all texts from the game so you don't need to datamine stuff in order to help us. Since we'll be at the GDC at the end of February and we can only start after that, this might take some time and I can't make any promises about how, when, and IF it will work out - but we'll have look into it.

Thanks for being patient and supportive!

Cheers
Dan
