F*** you, Ubisoft!!!
Sorry for being rude, but I had to, just HAD TO write something here to warn the others. Well, at first, I would like to say that I am an experienced computer user and I had never, NEVER EVER had ANY problem with launching the game which i BOUGHT. So naturally, when I read about the startup problems with this game, I didnt cared much. However, after I paid and downloaded the game... things started to F*** UP.
Firstly, there were problems with the installation of Uplay. It is incredibly long and the registration is very confusing. I finally managed to create an account on the third attempt, after 20 minutes approximately.
Secondly, when I started the game, I was just like "What the HELL?!". I clicked to "Play" on Steam, which redirected me to Uplay, which redirected me BACK AGAIN INTO STEAM. Why?! And then... the screen froze. Absolutely nothing happened and the game couldn´t be launched. I waited, I relaunched the game several times, but nothing happened.
Okay. I was getting really frustrated now, but I read the topic "Guide - to get the game work" here on the forum, so after half an hour, I finally LAUNCHED THE GAME. But then... Then the biggest f****** surprise awaited me.
I was totally speechless as the game needed ANOTHER SERVICE TURNED ON. Some f****** Conflux. And guess what, folks? THE GAME COULDN´T CONNECT TO THE CONFLUX. .... After this, I just sat in my chair and stared at the screen, absolutely stunned and shocked by the unbelievable arrogancy and stupidity of Ubisoft developers. So this is what I paid for? For setting up the game for an hour and than not to be able to play the game nevertheless? Well, I have just one thing to say... F*** YOU, UBISOFT!!!
PS: And now... What if I told you that people who didn´t pay a single buck for this game DIDN´T HAVE ANY OF THIS PROBLEMS AND PLAYED THE GAME INSTANTLY AFTER INSTALLING? ..........

So please, Hugh, couldn´t you spare an advice? Is Conflux working now for you? Because if yes, than there is a problem on our computers. Could you try to launch it now?

Sorry, I have yet to succeed creating an account. Instead of blaming my internet connection the program now states it cannot reach the server. Which is progress, I guess.

Oh, now I can´t even access my account :( It says that there is a problem with my internet connection... PLEASE, someone, help! How can I configure my internet to work with Uplay? How? Official statement from Valve would be most welcome...

I think the same.

In theory Conflux sounds like an amazing idea... wrong! It is still buggy as can be and been plagued by problems for more than a year. And create a hero is a huge disappointment.
Veverčák Jul 15, 2013 @ 8:23am
And HOW CAN I CONNECT TO IT? Why others can and I can´t? What I must do? I have already turned off the antivirus, firewall, I have added exception for some ports and still nothing...

How are your friends doing with their 'free' copies of the game?

It's exactly this reason why I say DRM is a total freaking mess.
DRM doesn't stop piracy and only creates frustration and issues for law abiding, paying customers. It also puts so many restrictions on 'your' game that you may not even be able to play single player game if something is wrong with their server, their DRM, your internet, whatever the case may be.
And could you imagine if you got on the bad side of Steam where you may have bought 100+ games where they are under lock and key practically. You need to basically ask them to play your game, and if they say no, well too bad. They have the right to close your account, not offer any refunds, and even keep any moneys in your Steam wallet. Sure you can commence litigation to dispute it but would you really go through all that?
Anyways, just ranting now I guess so I'll end it here.

Are you using a wireless connection? If so, try to plug in a regular internet cable. I know It seems funny, but that was the reason for me why for example Steam Itself wasn't able to start up. Perhaps It helps with that Uplay BS as well..
