Might & Magic: Heroes VI
No laptop support
If anyone is here before buying and is hoping to play on a laptop, hold off, Ubisoft don't support it, for fellow people like myself that forgot to look at the minimum system requirements because they haven't needed to worry about that sort of thing for years, especially on Heroes games, does anyone have any ideas how to put pressure on Ubisoft to change their stance on laptop support?

Many thanks,

Andrew

Andrew, all my games play perfectly well on my Samsung laptop with a 540m video card. Feel free to message me or even reply here if I can be of assistance, but be sure to send your laptop name, model and specs so i can verify it will work, but there are not many anymore that it cannot work on at all.
Great, are you from Ubisoft? That is fantastic if you can help, I use an ASUS N55S, it has a GeForce GT 635M graphics card, I run on Windows 7x64, have 6GB of RAM and an i5-2450M processor.

Ubisoft support were very unhelpful regarding this when I raised a ticket with them I might add but if you are from Ubisoft and can help me then you may yet have redeemed my opinion of them.

Many thanks,

Andrew
No, I do not work for UBISOFT! I am a gamer and repair tech for PCs. Your laptop is both better and worse than mine so it should install and run fine. Some fo the steps may be unneccesary, but without my being present to work through your issue and my not knowing exactly what is happening, you are stuck with them for the moment. First, if you have the game downloaded delete the local content. Second, close Steam and go into the steam folder, right click the steam exe selecting properties. On the compatibility tab, set it to run as administrator. restart Steam. Download and install your game. I have left my steam as Admin and not had any of the launcher problems with any of my UBISOFT games since I did this. It should just load and launch now. I did not have to run Heroes as admin. If you are still having problems you have corrupted windows files as the most probable culprit, remove your game again completely, go to start, and find Command prompt to right click and run as administrator. At the command prompt, type in SFC /scannow and hit enter to make windows double check all of its core files and follow the steps again for installation after it completes though you may just do this step first to avoid possibly the second installation as it is something a regularly used computer with lots of installations and uninstallations should have regularly done. without more information I canonly assume you are not getting past the launcher. keep in mind, if you are still having troubles, information in detail is imperative. I need to know everything it does and does not do inlcuding when you start the game, does it show as a process in task manager if it is not running obviously.

Lastly, and this again may avoid the steps above as I am also going to assume you have hybrid video. Open NVIDIA control panel, go to manage 3d settings, on the global tab on the right, select High-performance NVIDIA Processor and hit apply. Some driver updates will break this feature so you may need to go to the laptop manufacturer website and download their latest driver, completely remove yours and reinstall theirs. download the newest driver from NVIDIA and allowit to unpack without installing it. right click My Computer and select properties, go into device manager and find your NVIDA card and select update driver. search manually to the folder that was just unpacked and just allow it to update the core driver only and the hybrid will still work. In fact, if you have hybrid tech, do this before you do anything else!

EDIT: also not knowing your computer skills if you need definitive step by step instructions for any of this, Iwill write them

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, I've tried a few of your suggestions including one re-install, but I think my bankdwidth got throttled, I think that's 14GB I've done today, I'll have another try soon and let you know how I get on. Many many thanks though,

p.s. I know computers but I'm not used to troubleshooting games, I'm a software programmer.
Hi Guys,
did you come to a solution? I'm trying to run HMMVI on a Lenovo w520 - without success. Is it even possible to run it on a NVIDIA Quadro 1000M ? I'd appreciate any form of help.
Thanks
I have Core I3 3,2GHz, Nvidia GT740M and 4 Gb RAM on my laptop, game barely runs on 40 FPS on minimum, while on my Desktop it runs never below 70-80 FPS maxed out. Game is definitely not for the laptops. Don't even bother.

It runs fine on my 540m now. My laptop is no longer stock though as I upgraded the memory to the fastest available and doubled the amount. I also have not played much as I have been fighting with CA and trying to get Rome 2 to work. I can tell you it will not run on any Optimus if it is sticking on the onboard Intel rather than shifting to Optimus.
I have an Intel Core i7 2,4ghz, NVIDIA Quadro 1000m and 16 GB RAM. Is this still insufficient or is the video card simply not running HMM VI? Too bad...
This is the laptop computer I use ASUS Republic of Gamers it was built to be convenient to carry and take with you if you want to play with your friends. It has Intel core i7 3630Qm CPU @ 2.4 GHZ 8GB RAM 64 bit operating system x64 processor Nvidia geoforce gtx 660m HDMI. I've had mine a little over a year now and it does really good with playing games it's smooth graphics doesn't lag. It plays this game very good
