Black screen solution? Has anyone else tried turning the music setting to mute...

Just a random thought. I was having black screens when entering combat or a town (the music changes) around 5 times in an hour, turned the music settings to mute from the in game menu and no black screens for hours. Probably I've been lucky for the past couple of hours, but still.

It's a good idea, but I have the music settings muted as well and I get black screens before combat on a regular basis, almost always when assaulting a town. I enjoy this game enough to dig through forums to find a solution. The publisher should be ashamed to put out a product this broken. Some people say it's a problem with nvidia graphics drivers, that older versions work, and others think it has to do with uplay. Either way, it's game breaking.

3 things helped me for sure:
1. Deleting profile data from My Documents
2. Turning off vsync in graphic options
3. Forcing my videocard as main device in Nvidia control panel.

Music sounds too irrelevant, but those solutions written above are also
seem too senseless, but it works somehow. Good find with music tho, lol.

I have been fighting this bug ever since I got this game in the winter sale. I have tried at least half a dozen fixes several time and I have finally found one that works for me every single time. It even got me into a battle that was black screening every time I tried.

Here is what I did:
1. Start the game
2. Open task manager
3. Find the Might and Magic process and right click on it and change the priority to high.
4. Right click again and select CPU affinity. Uncheck cpu0, leaving cpu1-3 checked.

Unbelievable that this works for me for some reason. I always assumed it had something to do with my nVidia card (8800 GTS running 334.67 beta driver). It does work for me though. I have played at least 5 hours without a single black battle screen. This bug has made me so furious for so long and if I didn't love this game so much I would have boycotted Ubisoft. Still very upset with Ubisoft. I can't believe that they would let such a game shattering bug persist on a game they have been supporting for so long.
