try this one:
1st uninstall EB, use first the uninstall 000 then the 001 files.
2nd delete all the files in the "rome total war gold" directory.
3rd copy the old files you should have copied before installing the EB mod (they should be the version 1.5 of RTW, not the 1.51)
4th disable all the auto updates of RTW
5th reinstall EB...

In my case it worked just fine, for the moment... Of course if you do not have saved the vanilla game before you installed EB it is totally worthless to even try... But in the guides I found to install EB I always read that it was necessary to save elsewhere a copy of the vanilla game...

Hope this one works out as it did for me...
Glad if you succeed, keep me updated if anything goes amiss!
Have a good game!

apparently I forgot to make a copy when my computer crashed a while back so I don't have one now oh well I am sure someone will make something to make it work like they did for medieval 2

what a shame... another try I can think about is to find someone who has a copy of the vanilla game v1.5 and ask him the files you need... I do not know how to do it and if it actually works... I'm not expert of computers and so on... what i tried was just a simple 1+1=2... :)
well, hope you find a fix...

Woohoo, thanks for reminding me. A few months ago I reinstalled Steam onto my new HD. And then copied over my games to it. But I still have my old Steam install on my old drive. So I still have a full install of the 1.5 files! So going to copy over the files and screw waiting for CA to fix their mess!
