ENGINE UPGRADE - Post feedback here!
Please post any feedback regarding the engine upgrade here! Thank you.

More info here! - http://steamcommunity.com/games/465490/announcements/detail/499170989421604737

I'm hoping to gather feedback on the following:

  1. Is the game stable in 32bit mode (default)
  2. Is the game stable in 64bit mode
  3. Is performance better overall
  4. Does the game work in 4k mode?
  5. Are there any new glitches/issues that you had not seen before.
  6. Are load/saves working properly (other than your old saves being missing)
  7. If you migrated your save games, did they migrate correctly per my instructions.
  8. Any issues with creating a new game and universe generation?
  9. Is the game working better on low end systems, laptops, systems with the dreaded Intel video chipset

Thank you all!

Fixes/Updates - 1/13/17
--Fix for a minor CTM bug
--Addition libraries added for compatibility

Fixes/Updates - 1/12/17
Difficulty settings - You can now choose between Easy, Normal and Hard in the "Gameplay" options menu. Difficulty affects enemy base HP, Critical Chance, Damage and Chance to Hit. There will be more tuning based on feedback. I wanted to make sure the people who were supporting the game by buying it had an opportunity to scale the difficulty to their liking. Note that this is just a first pass.

NOTE: Difficulty can be set at any time in and out of combat.

More fine tuning of the CTM system.

The game now auto-saves when leaving the Dauntless, just in case you want to go back and prepare your team for hibernation before they settle into the escape pod <That is, loot your team!>. I did this because you can now loot some pretty good gear from the two bosses on the Dauntless and I didn't want anyone to lose that gear.

A fix for skipped turns that cropped up in the latest builds.

Added an option in the video settings menu that allows users to set their frame rate to 60FPS. This is still experimental. If you turn this on and your system cannot keep the frame rate pegged at 60fps, please disable it. You may encounter a number of issues. I am aware of an occasional circumstance where the following occur even on powerful systems with this setting on.
--Occasional missed click and character will not move.
--Clicking too far away from the character in the environment will rarely leave a team member behind or cause the party to not move.

64Bit PLAYERS - I've included a couple of mandatory Windows system updates. They should install automatically. So far two players have noted that this fixed the 64bit version of the game for them. Please let me know in this forum if you are still having any problems launching the game on 64bit systems.

IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS RUNNING THE 64BIT VERSION TRY THE FOLLOWING:
1) In Steam, go to your library
2) Right click the game and select properties
3) in the properties window go to the "Local files" tab
4) Select "Browse local files"
5) Open the "_CommonRedist" folder and run both the DirectX and OpenAL installers

Fixes - 1/9/17
--Rolled back framerate cap to 30fps - was causing too many problems with physics. I'll revisit in a few months time
--Fix for animation glitch when character returning to idle from walk
--Fix for bug where very rarely an enemies turn would be triggered out of order

Fixes - 1/8/17
--Further fixes for physics (slightly more gravity - more iterations per frame)
--Further tweaks to "ghost" projectiles
--Fixed long standing bug that allowed team members wielding ranged weapons to use the melee movement bonus.

Fixes - 1/7/17
--Pugilism fixed
--A long standing bug where shots would occasionally not connect with no message has been fixed. Thank you all for pointing this out. This was most obvious when fighting spiders using a SMG. Let me know if you see this bug again.

WIll check that upgrade very soon, thanks for the hard work.

edit:
I launched the game for a quick look and I must say it's looking good, shadows are way better, lights are great, textures even looks glossy/metal like. Characters look good, as for the animations I haven't played enough to say anything.

Anyway from the first asteroid on menu to the details on my characters this upgrade made my day!

Go Maverick !

Let me know if that helps with any crashes on the Intel. Lots of fixes for the Intel chipset.

I'll look into a gamma setting in the near future.

"Testing build on a Lenovo t450s intel 5500 graphics" 64bit

8. Any issues with creating a new game and universe generation?

No issues, It seems to generate a tad faster. Possibly 10-15% faster

9. Is the game working better on low end systems, laptops, systems with the dreaded Intel video chipset

The game is a little smoother, the brightness is now ideal, previous build was too dark on the intel 5500.

5. Are there any new glitches/issues that you had not seen before.

***Pugisum is broken! , attacked 3 groups of phage, pugisum showed the attack action but did not show "miss" and did not do any damage in 25+ attacks. This is not ideal when 2 of my 4 are pugisum specd =(

***Reloading pistols has glitched a few times (only reloads half the ammo capacity) - takes 4 action points to get guns to fully reload. Occured 5 times out of 50ish.

Load times seem longer between areas.

Loading saved games also is a lot longer than previous build.

Frames seems mildy improved, I will update this as i play through. .

I ran into the pugilism thing to.

The characters seem to move a little faster.

I like the new highlighting mechanic to.

Ok, will take a look at pugilism. The reload may have been because you were crippled? I'll look at re-load.

I'm stuck with no ammo and no mele weapons, can't progress until pugilism is fixed lol. i will start another play-through and keep this one on the back burner.

I am amazed you spent time upgrading the Engine.

Really amazed. I won´t be testing cause will wait for KMR release.
To not get burned out and never finish it once the game is fully released.

but still thumbs up for 1 man Dev or team.

I will be happy to start over, my main item to watch for is the dreaded missing AP. When straight on facing an enemy with 10 AP, cost of 5AP to fire a single round, so expecting 2 attacks and end up left with 4AP....This happens every battle. Seems like even though they just shot the baddie they need to "twitch their stance" and that cost the AP. I thought it was a graphical glitch, but then started to see the correlation of the missing AP.

So will start over and let you know

Hi clayog123 - I'm looking into that lost AP point too. Should have a fix soon.

Anyone having issues with movement or target rotation?

I have one report that a player was not able to move into position and had to rotate first.

He also reported that he was not able to rotate and fire at a targeted enemy.

And third, that he got blocked in a hallway and could not move.

Anyone see any of these issues?

I can't launch the 64bit version of the game after today's patch (V 0.0.25) - the 32bit version seams to work though.

My specs are:
Win 10 Pro 64Bit
i5 4590
8GB RAM
Radeon R9 290X 3GB (driver version 16.12.2)

Hi eidoon232 - try exiting Steam and launching it as an administrator.

If that doesn't work, try validating the Steam cache - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

Let me know if either of those work.

No errors were found, but I still can't start the game (not even in admin mode).
There is just the small black steam window with "Stellar Tactics wird gestarted", which dissapears after ~5 min of doing nothing.

Ok eidoon232 - do this - In Steam, under Library, right click Stellar tactics and select "Properties" -> Select the "Local files" tab - > Click "Browse local files"

Tell me if "StellarTactics64.exe" is in the folder.

If it is, try rebooting your system.

If that doesn't work, your Anti-Virus may be blocking it?

Also, are you sure your system is true 64bit? See this article. http://www.howtogeek.com/228042/how-to-switch-from-32-bit-windows-10-to-64-bit-windows-10/
eidolon232 Jan 7, 2017 @ 4:19pm
The windows system information and dxdiag both confirm that I have a 64bit processor and OS.
The file is there, but when I start it I am getting an error message mentioning the code (0xc000007b), which if I am not mistaken is related to some framework errors.
I will check the .net stuff tomorrow (already past 1am here...) and keep you posted.
