This game is great, as all SuperGiant games seem to be. But please, PLEASE switch from "Mouse" to "Mouse and Keyboard". It's much much smoother that way.

Telling myself I don't need to buy Hades II yet, I decided to finally finish Pyre. It's such a a gorgeous, compelling game. The world building is so unique and incredible, the gameplay is a perfect example of easy to learn, difficult to master mechanics. Choices matter and affect the storyline and ending. My first playthrough was around 25 hours, but I'm probably going to play it again. Play this game!!!

6/10. Beautiful art and fun gameplay. The best way I can describe this is some sort of 3v3 quidditch or wizard basketball, where your goal is to shoot or dunk a celestial orb (the ball) into the opponent's pyre (the goal). There's a little bit of Space Jam in it as you strategise and plan your roster around character stats, abilities and the terrain. You can level up their skill trees and equip them with talismans. There's even a tinge of CRPG element as you're often faced with a fork in the road where you can choose and roll for a chance to gain either a temporal buff, gold, or equipment.

The reason why I'm not giving it a strong review score or recommendation is because by the time I've played up to the first liberation rite and released my first character, I felt like I've already seen most of what the game has to offer. And that took me only around 3 hours. I'd suspect it's largely got to do with the fact that the core gameplay described earlier only happens ~30% of the time, interspersed with a lot of dialogue and world building. Will only recommend if you can pick this up on a steep sale.
