"Early Access" HTC VIVE VR support included?
Hi DEVS!!!

I´m following this game closely.

I´m a big fan of VR and I´m already enjoying a lot Descent Underground, Sublevel Zero and other not so similar games but in VR too.
So after tried your OverloadVRTeaser I got hooked immediatly.....

I want to support this Early Access as soon as the VR is included...please tell me that you are adding the support from the first Early Access version on this 13/03/2017....because it is not clarified in the description but it is listed in the features.

THANKS!

NOTE: yes F5 doesn´t work yet to center the view, but you could use the center option that comes with SteamVR, call SteamVR inside the game by pressing your helmet only button, and select the center option from the options

Same boat here. I'm a kickstarter backer, but I refuse to play until I can play in VR!

That being said, the game is shaping up fantastically and is in an entirely different (better) league against Descent Underground. THIS is the REAL Descent!

Yes, you can play the game with either a Vive or a Rift (Windows only for both).

FYI: In-game, you can now press F5 to recenter the view while in VR. And you can enable/disable VR from the options menu. When you go into VR, you'll definitely want to turn the settings down (shadow quality to Low, and AA/AO/Lens Flares to OFF are good places to start). There may still be minor bugs with VR, so please let us know.

Thanks devs for this. Descent was epic and miss the glory days of the 90s. Was a good time for pc gaming. Question though, will this include human rescuing and reactor cores to blow up (and escape) or have you made some changes in that dept. Cheers

The source to the original Descent was released long ago. And someone ported it to VR. Search internet for it. Still need a legal copy of the game map data and such. Though it also works with the old demo of descent 1 :). This game blows even that away ;p

Thanks markus for the headsup on that. I try to find other older games that have been modded but only ever find Doom 3, but nothing else for the vive. To play Dead Space (yes i know its 3rd person), Alien Isolation and others would be a dream. There seems to be more support for the rift when it comes to older games. Would buy Vorpx if it worked better and didnt get so much bad comments.

Plays pretty well in VR, though like others have reported, my view was out of position. I didn't see that tip about using F5 until just now, wish I'd seen that sooner. Doesn't seem like Overload currently obeys Steam's built-in "reset seated position" thing. Overall really glad to see it works at all though. Surprisingly comfortable even after I turned off cockpit so it wouldn't be blocking my view from "outside" the ship. If I'm not missing something, it seems like I currently need to use a keyboard to navigate menus in VR.

They need to show in game that the F5 key helps. Like at the menu. Top or bottem. So those that don't check these boards know.

Dev said they're going to add a tutorial message about it. They should really make Steam's position reset thing work though.

Oh ok cool

Tried it just now, F5 doesn't do anything for me. SteamVR/Vive.
Vizor  [developer] Mar 13, 2017 @ 12:05pm
Yeah, Vive uses a different resetting mechanism. Will get it hooked up soon. Sorry about that!
Puppet-Head Mar 13, 2017 @ 12:39pm
Hmm, its totally uselss at present without a reset.

Meanwhile, you can go into Steam VR > Settings > Developer and use the "Quick calibrate" button to force it to re-orient the playspace to where it's facing. I believe it's designed to be used on the floor though, so you may need to experiment with height.

Yeah I can also confirm that F5 doesn't work in Vive right now it seems. Life-long Radian games diehard fan here though so I'm in it to win it. Is there a beta branch for future updates, etc?

I'm willing to play in 2D for now lol.
