Large fire mission?

Hi,

Has anyone completed the 'large fire' mission?

I've played it for over an hour, and the fire still hasn't been extinguished (the challenge is to put the fire out in less than 60 minutes I think).

Any suggestions?

I got the large fire out but in 63 minutes. That was after crashing the two smallest fire flights though. You can watch my first effort on my YouTube channel and I'm going to try again. I just make the fire flights a priority, launch them as soon as they are ready and I'm going to try speeding them up too. youtube.com/c/tenaciousviking

I managed 52 mins yesterday. But I didn't post it to the leaderboard. I'm aiming for about 45 since my best on the small fire is around 22mins so far.

The trick is to let the passenger aircraft wait. The tankers should never be held up, ever. Once I flush the 5 tankers off the airport, then I scramble a few passenger flights out.

Although I do find the passenger tweets to be very insulting when I know I'm doing a fabulous job :)

That's what I was trying to do. I always seem to end up crashing one of the firefighting aircraft though. I guess that doesn't help. :)

Nope.. That's automatic grounds to restart. Even if you're half hour in!

After crashing the tanker (or any other aircraft), automatic restart did not happen!!! And Submit Button did not work either.

It won't auto restart. What I mean is that you shouldn't think about continuing, and just try again. You still need to restart again manually.

Exactly!!! But I still want to submit my score via Submit Score and that does not work.

Submitting your high score from a fire challenge displays the time required to extinguish the fire. If someone want to submit their score 30 minutes into the challenge, it would beat the time scores of those who completed the challenge. I prevent the option of submitting scores before challenge completion. I know it seems strange, not being able to share the fact that you ALMOST completed the mission. I'm open to feedback on this.

I will add some mention of this at game over. Something that says "You cannot submit your time elapsed until the fire is extinguished".

Is there only ever 5 Firefighting aircarft for this mission? There is an obvious trick to doing this mission 30 or 60..however some of the times seem like luck of the draw in some cases as the aircraft just don't move any faster they move in the air or ground. So I still don't see how some people are posting some of these scores.
Even if you keep the aircraft going as fast as possible in the air..you cannot speed them up on the ground?
So how are people squeezing that extra 2-5 minutes on these scores? Don't talk about civilian traffic, let's pretend that it flows to a point where the Firecraft are never slowed down by them.

For me it was a combination of no civ traffic, immidiate take-off, fast climb option, faster speed, and expedite off.
