Launch Issues

I just got the game and am unable to play. The game will open for a few seconds before crashing to the desktop. No error message is displayed. The only graphic displayed is the grid 2 logo. Does anyon have any idea for how to fix this? I've already tried restarting my computer and verifying the game files.

Nope. Exact same issue. Portal 2 also won't start for me. I've tried everything suggested and still neither game will run. No other problems with dozens of other games on my system. If this contiunes, I may stop buying games through Steam. They obviously can't get it together.
