What is the level cap for a character?

What is the level cap for a character? I read somewhere it caps at 99? Just curious, thanks.

I hesitated too long to get this game. I've seen this game here on Steam, I think it was two years ago. I thought it was going to be some RTS type of game where you lead an army. I'm horrible with RTS. Finally decided to get this game a few days ago, now I am addicted to it.

Immediately do Dril and Morka's companion quests and become an unstoppable force of melee and healing. All my companions do is heal me. :) I do the beating.
