VirtualHere for Steam Link

VirtualHere for Steam Link

Thrustmaster T150
Hi, according to VirtualHere description, it "allows you to use the XBox One Wireless Controller, steering wheels, microphone, flight sticks, and many other devices"; however I can't use my T150 because it isn't correctly detected after sharing from steam link.

Here I will report the steps I followed:
- installed drivers on host pc (directly connecting the T150)
- tested T150 (while directly connected) → works
- installed VirtualHere on host pc
- started VirtualHere on host pc
- switched on the steam link
- connected steam controller and T150
- shared T150 from steam link
- started streaming
- started Project Cars
- T150 not detected/doesn't work

If you need any other info/log or you want me to test with other games, just ask.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, im getting a few requests for this, i will pick up a T150 this week to see how it works and figure out why its not working. I cannot guarantee i'll get it working but ill give it a try and let you know...

Ok, keep me informed.
Thanks.

Yes i got it working!

I went and bought a new T150 and plugged it into my windows 10 laptop.

Then i installed the latest drivers from the thrustmaster website and made sure the wheel had the latest firmware and works directly connected to my laptop

I downloaded the free "RaceRoom Racing" and tested the wheel working directly connected with that game

Then i unplugged the wheel and plugged it into the steamlink
I also plugged a mouse into the steamlink so i can control the menu
Then in the steamlink i went to Settings -> VirtualHere - and i selected the Thrustmaster and made sure it was shared, then i went back to the main menu and clicked "Start Playing"

---> This part needs to be fixed in Big Picture mode, for the time being this is the workaround

Then for some reason big picture is uncontrollable with the mouse so i went to my laptop and pressed ALT+F4 to minimize big picture and i can see my normal windows screen.
------------------------

Then i saw virtualhere and the game listed in the in steam and i cliicked on "RaceRoom Racing Experience" then i clicked "Launch"

Then i started a game and the wheel worked including force feedback etc.

Could you try this and then let me know if its ok as it might be useful for others to get their T150 running.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a similar problem with a controller: the brake pedal is seen as "Y axis" and steam thinks you are scrolling down (even if you are not pushing the pedal), hence you can't navigate through the menu. My workaround is half pushing the brake pedal and navigate the menu while keeping it half pushed.

Yes, however it will take some time (2 / 3 weeks) because of my slow internet connection (Raceroom is ~20GB) and other commitments IRL.
I will report back any result ASAP.

Thanks.

PS: yesterday, after some tests, I found out that Thrustmaster control panel correctly detects the wheel through VirtualHere (and this is a great thing).

Ok i downloaded "Project Cars" and then i minimized big picture so i could just see the windows desktop then i just double clicked project cars and the T150 worked fine. So im pretty sure it will work for you, just dont run it inside big picture mode.

In the weekend I removed/reinstalled Project Cars, tested again and (strangely) now it works.
Don't know why I had issues before, but now seems ok.

If the problem will come out again, I will report it.

Thanks for your precious help.

I am bumping this thread to say that I tested with a Thrustmaster TX Wheel and its also working.

My test conditions were with virtualhere on a Windows desktop and on my macbook. Wasn't an intensive test but the pedals, wheel and FFB were working.

Nice, thanks for reporting.

Has anyone tested Assetto Corsa?
Ansa89 Aug 21, 2016 @ 11:23pm
Yes, I tested it and it works.
However my best experience so far is with project cars.

I'm still having the exact same issue as the first time I tried this in beta. The wheel is only recognized as thrustmaster ffb wheel instead of the t150 :( I just uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and updated the wheel firmware
virtualhere  [developer] Aug 28, 2016 @ 6:14pm
Ok and you have the switch set to PC? and it works ok anyway?

It might say FFB instead of T150 because the wheel gets firmware uploaded to it when its first used in windows via virtualhere. Then it switches modes i think..
Ykä Aug 29, 2016 @ 12:59pm
Yes. It's switched to PS3 which is PC according to the instructions. I sent mail to Thrustmaster to ask about the USB input sequence and I asked them to forward it to you aswell if they didn't mind. Does your virtualhere recognise the wheel as FFB or T150 in steamlink settings?
virtualhere  [developer] Aug 29, 2016 @ 6:08pm
Sure get them to forward, unfortunately i sold my T150 so i cannot test anymore. If thrustmaster wants to work with me to get it working smoothly ill buy another t150 for testing
Ykä Aug 30, 2016 @ 4:36am
Can anyone else tell me if their steamlink recognises the wheel as t150 or just thustmaster ffb?

What do you mean with this and what could I do to test a workaround?
