Where in the requirements does it state that certain maps are better played on nonbunghole CPUs?
Where in his post does the OP indicate that he has a "bunghole CPU"?
What does "bunghole CPU" even mean?
And also be aware that people with elite systems experience long turn times.
And yes the game does not seem to make proper use of multi core CPUs meaning weaker quad cores like the i5 750 with low clock speed pr core suffer. But this has been an issue since quad cores hit the market.
an issue might as well be ram acces time
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 6 cores (stock 3.1ghz, tried o/c currently at 3.89ghz no difference in turn times.
16ghz corsair 1800mhz iirc.
AMD radeon hd 6970 currently with all settings on I was down to 2 fps in some battles between default fleet sizes (6 odd ships) carriers with drones, with missiles flying zoomed in.
With most things unticked, and texture quality on 75% its ok, down to 8fps or so when its busy.
(SSD windows drive, seperate fast gaming drive.)
NO problems in other games. Before anyone asks, yes I have the latest drivers for everything.
From the impression i get lurking at the kerberos forums their attitude is, its not the game. The attitude is "what do you expect" or "dont play large maps" bla bla bla. Ive waited a year for this game to be ok. It has enormous potential but it aint there yet im afraid but its getting there.
I cant tell if they are just trying to put a positive spin on it (turn time delays) until they sort it out or if they dont think it will improve much, either way there seems a lot more hostility over at those forums lately, especially mecrons replies from what i have noticed lurking.
I personally will just wait again, hell whats another 6 months. Its gone from unplayable buggy scam release to 80% original sots quality/enjoyment albeit with a lot of unuser friendly ui issues etc. (2 hours spent scouring forums and wikis and the manual and tutorial screens trying to figure out diplomacy, until i realised the tiny little unmarked corners of the race pictures were clickable. I have more...)
One day ill get the responsiveness i got from the original... I hope. Maybe in 6 months.
Dont get me wrong, in its current state the game, once you can figure out how to mine/work diplomacy/loa gates/manage stations and the mission system etc etc , almost brings tears of joy to this old strategy gamers eyes.
Kherny.
Edit - missing current turn info/spelling
Ah, so that's how you do it. I tried clicking on the races and got nothing of course and there didn't appear to be any buttons on that screen. I just assumed it was because I hadn't built a diplomatic station yet.
