First Impressions.... HORRIBLE.. AVOID!!!!

So I got the game on the steam sale, started up a new campain and there are like 15 charecters to start the game with, all gimicky as hell, reddit mages, vietnam mages, tentacle mages, tons of CRAP!. I choose a tank mage and start the game, my charecter walks around so slow, no where in the game has it told me how to run or move faster, get to the point of the tutorial where you learn haste and try run past the crushing wall, died about 10 times before giving up... Apparently the charecter I picked is UNABLE to even finish the tutorial... good work developers.


Avoid this garbage game, It MIGHT have been good when it came out but its a bloated corpse now without even proper balancing or testing of the DLC's they throw at this game constantly to try and make a $

hahaha so not true, did you even try to dispell your elements? that's probably why you're walking slow!

this game is awesome i've been playing it with friends for hours since i bought it and can't stop. you're doing it wrong.

I agree with Neo. I got the game quite recently as well, and yes at first the game was not the eaisest thing to play but once I learned all of the controls, I found it was very much fun. As for characters, I did buy a couple DLC characters but I ended up picking the original and was fine.

The problem isn't with the game you just didnt cast haste on yourself or your timing was wrong lol, pretty simple mistake I guess.

Also the tank robe I'm pretty sure has a movement speed reduction which would explain the slow walking.

The Tank robe is slower, yeah. And yes, you won't probably be able to clear the crusher with that robe even with Haste. Extremely unlucky circumstances there, Pip-Boy, but just use any of the other bazillion robes for that level :)

So you choose the Tank robe? Of couse you move slowely with that robe, it's one of the properties. Maybe read the description of what the Robe does.
Also if you failed that part was probably cause tank robe is a heavy robe.

You didn't read anything about the robe before selecting it or only looked at all the advantages it gives, I mean just use normal robe if you never played the game before.

Yeah, I read the descriptions it gives about the robe, no where does it say !WARNING! you wont even be able to beat the tutorial.

Do you really think, the tank robe was made to beat the tutorial?!

Magicka was released on January 25, 2011.
The tank robe was released almost 6 months later on June 21, 2011..
On the same day, they released the PvP Mode.

And now turn on your brain! What do you think were the robes made for?
Hint: The DLC's name is "Magicka: Party Robes"


Why did you even choose the tank robe, when you read that it's slower than others?

The tutorial is the only part, you can't beat with slow robes.
And you can actually skip the tutorial or just go back to the lobby and choose a different robe, that's not "unbalanced crap".

Also, it's extremely stupid to judge a good game, just because of one, avoidable, little thing that pisses you off...

Hmmm, so you are saying, that the adverage user who picks this game up on a whim is going to look into things like that? No, the Adverage user starts a game, goes Hmm, im going to quickly start the campain and play the tutorial and check this out for a little bit. I picked tank mage because as a long time UO player i'v always liked the concept. If those robes were not meant to be for singleplayer, then why did the developers list them in the robes for singleplayer? Lazy and sloppy on the developers part. I wonder what other great bugs are waiting in this pile.

What you can do is clear the tutorial as the basic robe, reach a checkpoint, exit story, then enter it as tank robe, I don't think you'll need to worry about anything speed related like the crusher past that.

YES. Yes they will read first. Absolutely. I dunno about others, but most people read the instructions or watch videos about things like this before they start.

Most people read things that pop up in tooltips You jumped in blindy to a game you just got and never EVER bothered to figure out WHY would couldn't pass part of the tutorial. Did you even read the manual pages? First impressions are total crap; you wouldn't want someone assuming things about you based on initial appearances, right? You can blame the devs, but that won't 'fix' somethign that isn't broken. Just change robes, finish the tutorial, exit to the menu, and switch to the robes you wanted. Simple.

You're so wrong its shocking, I find the fact you think the adverage user will google things like "What Robes are able to beat the singleplayer game" Or run and watch a bunch of video's on things like "What robes NOT to pick for singleplayer play" pretty insane and it shows how out of touch you are with the common gamer on steam.


Just curious, for the sake of arguments, name ANY other game where you can select a charecter for the singleplayer game that you are not able to beat the game with. having problems? its because its a HORRIBLE design flaw, and any developer worth there salt would have noticed it and removed it from the list.

Once again, I have no problems with the additon of the robes, I find it a horrible idea to include the so called PVP only robes into the singleplayer robes list without any form of notice that you will be unable to beat the game if you select them.

I don't how you can't pass that part of the tutorial, I just did pass through the tutorial with the heavy robe without any problem, maybe your problem isn't the robe...
